With roaring open fires and filled with rural charm, The New Mill is a countryside pub that dates back to 1841. Seasonal pub classics are served alongside a great cask ale selection, with a tranquil beer garden being a popular spot all year round.

The New Mill menu is filled with pub classics, as well as more contemporary twists. There is beer-battered cod with chips, slow-roasted half Shropshire chicken with an Althams sausage wrapped in sweet cure bacon with dauphinoise potatoes, as well as a full grill selection of steaks and burgers. Vegetarian recipes include exotic flavours like the butternut squash with coconut, lentil and chickpea dahl.

On the dessert menu at The New Mill Taunton, diners can choose decadent treats like peanut butter, chocolate and toffee cheesecake, and there is a full wine list and great range of beers and cask ales.

Packed with intimate little nooks and a welcoming atmosphere, The New Mill is 9 minutes' drive from Taunton Rail Station

Regular customer - only criticism is the length if time to receive food after ordering. Appreciate all food is freshly prepared but there always seems to be a lack of staff in the kitchens

Comfortable pub to sons an evening. Food was good, reasonable choice and well presented. Only gripe for us was service was very slow, seemed understaffed although when we were served the staff were extremely polite and helpful

Another disappointment. On arrival we were told that 3 of the main course options were no longer available and we would probably have chosen one of them for each of us. What we did choose was good although your staff forgot to deliver our sweets and had to be prompted. Furthermore, some ten minutes after our arrival another couple on an adjacent table, having been given the same regretful pre-order information as ourselves, were then advised that the restaurant had run out of Merlot wine! To add insult to injury we noticed as we left that a chef's special was available but we had not been informed of this. Much improvement needed I' afraid.

Service very slow, ordering drinks to receiving took about 15-20min to arrive twice!! Food great but not enough veg, would have rather helped myself from dishes on table rather than just the cabbage in a dish. Had to ask for more gravy when stated on menu endless. Pudding was great but again service poor.

It was my Dads birthday and there was a party of 7 of us booked in at 12.30 as this was the only time we could get in . Mum and Dad had eat here before and said it was the best Sunday roast they had eaten . we order our drinks with the bar maid and was given our menu which we placed our starters . The starters was lovely. But we were all very disappointed with our mains which was not cooked . The cabbage was raw the carrots were hard as nails the roast potatoes looked like boil potatoes . The pigs in blankets looked as if they weren't cooked . Not wanting to make a fuss and we all had a joke about how raw the veg was and moved on to the puddings . 3 crème brulé which I though was supposed to crack on top but didn't and my mothers was still frozen . We were told on two occasion that you were short staffed but our bill came to £200 in all .

Tasty, hearty food; attentive and friendly staff in a cozy, country feeling pub/restaurant - would definately recommend!
