Embracing the rural charm of its scenic location, The Nelson Inn offers well-loved British pub cuisine in a farmhouse-style stone design. The food can be enjoyed from the cosy hearth-fire, or in the garden for al fresco summer dining. The light, open interior is welcoming, with charming mirrors and framed art adorning the walls.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Nelson Inn menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Nelson Inn ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Nelson Inn is only 4 minutes’ drive from Hampsthwaite, or 6 minutes from the picturesque old town of Harrogate.

Prebooked reservation. Very disappointing compared to our previous visits. No welcome at all, 2 staff standing chatting at bar till and one cleaning tables. Waited about 5 minutes to eventually served and then shown to table. Was told a coach party were using upper floor. Meal was quickly served. Unfortunately the next table had a woman ambassator for the coach firm tapping away on her laptop and later dealing with a continuous stream of her passengers crossing the length of restuarant to complain and discuss various problems of their tour. When less busy she spoke loudly to the people to the other side of the walled partiton. Service was slow, after the main course, even though the coach party has left. It took ages to get the bill and collected. Management should realise, training and Customer experience is more important. Very poor. This a first for me, I would not recommend.Aug 16

The service was good but slow . I had the lamb and I wish that I didn't . It was all fat . Out of five small pieces I could only eat two and that was taking off a lot of fat to begin with , so left with even smaller pieces to eat . The veg was a bit dried up and the roast potatoes were almost white .
My wife had turkey which she enjoyed .
I complained about my meal but with not much response or reason why or apology from the kitchen . Only an apology from the waitress , who was very good .
They eventually reduced my bill by 20%. I was not impressed at all with this .
I will never eat there again .
