Found within a secluded wing of the iconic National Gallery, The National Dining Rooms offers modern British cuisine. Along with a fresh food counter, guests can look upon expansive murals depicting scenes of yesteryear.

Fresh, British produce forms The National Dining Rooms menu, from summer salads, to warming soups and hearty sandwiches, which can also be enjoyed in the cosy café area. For something more substantial, diners can select from refined dishes such as pheasant and partridge terrine, followed by Dover sole or a homely shepherd’s pie.

There is also a selection of artisan cheese and British charcuterie on offer at The National Dining Rooms in London. Try the caramelised chocolate mousse with vanilla shortbread for dessert. Brought to you by the renowned Peyton & Byrne group, the restaurant also offers splendid views over Trafalgar Square

The renowned afternoon tea shouldn’t be missed, nor should the occasional interactive tasting sessions and wine tasting classes. The National Dining Rooms restaurant is a 3-minute walk from Charing Cross Station.

I love afternoon teas and had tried lots. All delicious and service excellent. The scones were yummy much better than the Ritz...........

Good food, excellent service, but expensive. Never like the obligatory addition to a service charge at the end of the bill. I consider it an insult and would prefer to have the ultimate choice to decide how much I would wish to tip. In this case I may have given more!

Good service, polite waitress, children were given extra attention. Cakes, scones, sandwiches are good.

A bit slow. The kitchen seemed short staffed. We were given a free dessert and coffee. Waiting staff were lovely.

We were very disappointed in this experience. We were looking for a lovely classic English tea experience and were quite disappointed. The restaurant read more like a cafeteria in feeling, and the dishes were dirty - it made the entire experience very unappetizing. We waited a long time for our beverages as well. Food was mediocre at best.

Wow, we had an amazing tea. Every part of the food was so delicious. The service was quick and our waitress was very friendly. The restaurant at the National Gallery was in a perfect spot overlooking Trafalgar Square.

We were a group of 11, having afternoon tea as one of our group is leaving work. The food and venue were lovely and service was prompt and efficient. Our table was booked for 4.30pm and we were having a lovely time. At about 5.40, one of our party asked for more coffee under he "bottomless" coffee offer and was told that the coffee machine had been turned off so he couldn't have any. Those that asked for more tea were brought it, but about 10 minutes later we were told quite bluntly that we had to leave as they were closing. 5 minutes later, while we were still settling the bill, which hadn't had the offer that we had booked under applied and had to be corrected, a security man came and told us that we had to get out as they were closing and as we made our way towards the door, feeling quite harassed, we were told that we should have been out 5 minutes ago! We couldn't even stop to use the toilet.

I think we should have been told at the time of booking that our visit would be time limited, and certainly when we asked for refills it would have been a good idea to mention it.
A lovely visit was really spoiled by the attitude and rudeness of the security staff at the end.

We had a stunning view of Trafalgar Square! Tea was lovely, if a bit dear.

The food was overall good but when the bill came the discount offered when booking had not been applied. I mentioned it and they brought a new bill. To my surprise it had a an 'optional' gratuity of 11.5% applied. I found this excessive.
