We had festive afternoon tea, christmas edition. They were cute and delicious in spite of its reasonable price. We loved them.

Lovely afternoon tea at Hyatt Regency. Attentive staff and a haven of peace off a hectic Oxford Street.

The service was good and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the bread was slightly stale, but aside from that, the sandwiches were ok. One very big mistake was putting the vegetarian sandwiches on the same plate as the salmon and turkey sandwiches. If someone has ordered a vegetarian option, it should NOT be served on the same plate as meat or fish. Our server changed the sandwiches without a problem, but this was a bad oversight on the chef's part. I wouldn't expect this from a top London hotel. We were brought more sandwiches later on, which was nice as we had been saving ourselves for afternoon tea so we were very hungry. The scones were ok, not great and they were brought out separately, presumably to be served warm - they were not warm.
The cakes were disappointing. Mary Berry would not have been impressed; the mini mince pies were overdone and the mince just didn't taste like mince; it didn't have that rich, sweet taste. I wanted something really chocolately, but instead had a dry chocolate and mandarin cupcake. I did like the reindeer gingerbread. But I have had much better afternoon tea at other places. Maybe a menu change for the sweets would improve the overall tea, although this was meant to be the festive afternoon tea. The pianist was a very nice touch and I enjoyed that.

The staff were fabulous in accommodating a 15 month old just walking, wanting to explore little girl. The tea was lovely, beautifully presented - lovely atmosphere very welcoming. We will return in the summer.

Our restaurant meal was on a Bookatable offer of 3 courses and half a bottle off wine per diner for £30. There was not a huge choice on the special menu, so my wife had octopus terrine and I had a salad to start. We both enjoyed the first course and were looking forward to our mains, we had both selected the plaice fillets. How disappointed we both were when we tasted the plaice, it was so salty that neither of us could eat it (and normally we would add quite a lot of salt to our fish dishes). We informed our waiter who was very apologetic and he hurried back to the kitchen with our inedible meals. After about 15 the waiter returned with replacement plaice fillet mains. Each dish comprised of 3 plaice fillets, on my plate only 1 was edible, the other 2 were heavily salted again. All 3 of my wife's fillets were as salty as the first attempt. We barely touched them and had to give up. Clearly there is a basic fundamental problem with their plaice preparation process. We both had the parfait for dessert and it was delicious. Service throughout had been impeccable and the waiter excelled in all respects. A shame that the pianist was absent on this Saturday evening.

Lovely afternoon tea - somewhat different but still scrumptious and plenty of it! Good selection of teas. The cocktail was sublime. The service excellent.
