A haven of peace and tranquility away from Selfridges and Oxford Street. A lovely lunch, the lobster bisque and halibut were delicious. Definitely worth a visit with a glass of champagne to get over Xmas shopping!

We had a Lovely greeting on arrival and although an exquisite menu, some of the afternoon tea items were exceptional, some were disappointing. I hope you will not mind our frankness but hope it might help to make it complete perfection!!! The needle and thread cocktail was beautifully presented and delicious and presented by a charming waiter. The presentation of the savoury course was excellent, the goats cheese tartlet, smoked salmon terrine and pate roulade were very tasty, however, the sandwiches were boring and not very tasty and the beef was tough to eat.

The scones were also disappointing in both taste and texture and the jam, lemon curd and cream were delicious but frugal in amounts for 3 people. The sweet treats looked amazing and were beautifully presented (in particular the chocolate shoes were fabulous as were the macaroons). The panacotta looked fabulous topped with the gorgeous hat, but we all agreed the liquorice panacotta was not to our taste and the hat was disappointing. The biscuit dresses were OK, nothing special in taste and we could not quite tie up the relevance of the chocolate wrapped in what looked like bread. It was also disappointing that the couture dresses were not on show. May we suggest that the tableware be modernised to coincide with the lovely style of the hotel.

We have enjoyed many afternoon teas in many establishments in London and unfortunately this was not our best experience. We like to finish on a positive note, the restaurant was beautifully refurbished and the staff were delightful.

Our best wishes, Anne Saville and two friends

Very relaxed atmosphere, un-rushed, delicious cakes, pastries and petit desserts. Loved the piano, loved the ambience, loved the art work. Low, comfortable chairs so easy to relax in. We had one "gluten free" and you catered for her so beautifully that we didn't realise the difference, she suggested using spelt bread instead of gluten free bread - far tastier! The sandwiches, although delicious, did have a very slight crust suggesting they had been exposed to the air. On the whole, Excellent thank you

The Motagu is always a delight to dine at, we have visited it many times. The Bookatable Star Deals always offer excellent value for money. The quality, presentation and flavour of the food is not compromised by the Star Deal and service is always of the highest standard. We will return again soon.

The food and service were impeccable but the air conditioning is far too cold, making it too cold to sit comfortably without a coat.

Delightful afternoon tea, perfect service, reasonable price compared to competitors and very good sandwiches, scones and tarts.

Consistent standard. Excellent food, if a little on the cold side. It being a Saturday night there was a rather loud party that made the dining experience a less peaceful one than during the week. Service as always, exemplary.
