A very lovely evening, staff friendly and attentive, food really nice. Would certainly go again and have no hesitation in recommending to anyone else.

With a long history on the site as a farm then a beer house, The Mint near Banstead continues its rural heritage of serving traditional British food. Nestled in a lush country setting, the views can be enjoyed from the pretty al fresco beer garden, and the building itself is fittingly rustic for the location, with chunky oak beams and a welcoming hearth-fire.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Mint menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Mint ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Mint is 6 minutes’ drive from Banstead, but is remote and peaceful.

We dine regularly at the Mint and are never disappointed. Last night a party of 30 were there but we were kept informed the whole evening when our dishes would be served and we hardly had to wait at all !

On arrival stood waiting for ages to check in while a waitress is taking a deposit off a customer. Then another waitress appears ignores us and speaks to the people waiting behind us checks their booking and shows them to their table before returning to us. Very poor meet and greet!

Food was acceptable though not outstanding and although the staff were pleasant, service was very slow given how few people there were in the restaurant.

Overall a good meal, but our drinks orders were slow in coming - the second time we had to re-order as they seemed to have forgotten! It would be good to have small portion options or "light bites" for those with smaller appetites.

Table service was very good. Lovely & warm on arrival due to log fire which was very welcoming. I had the Sea Bass which was served on a bed of Risotto with prawns & lobster. I ate it all but it tasted very strongly of parmesan cheese which was already in it, I would of preferred not to of had that it was too cheesy & if you didn't like it you would not have eaten it. My friend had risotto too with scallops & prawns, hers was the same, very cheesy. My other friend had roast chicken which looked lovely & she said it was. All the puddings were good, Elton Mess, crumble & apple pie. My friend said she didn't want custard but it was served with custard on it, she didn't say anything & just ate it.
