With balconies overlooking the river Goyt and fireplaces to warm it up, The Midland is a traditional pub & restaurant in the leafy village of Marple Bridge. Serving a variety of uncomplicated, wholesome British dishes, the pub is dotted with dark wooden tables & cushioned chairs, and tiled floors add to its rustic charm.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Midland menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Midland cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Midland - Marple Bridge in Manchester is a 2-minute walk from Marple Rail Station.

The standard of the food has declined, I did complain and the meal was refunded but the overall experience was ruined. Also all areas looked dirty.the toilets were disgusting.

Good service staff welcoming and friendly.
Only real drawback was the lack of heating ,friends with their backs to the Windows said it was draughty even though the Windows were shut.

We were a party of 7 on a Sunday evening I was so disappointed at the number of items that were off the menu, lamb Koftas,, roast pork,, trio of meats, sea bass, salmon, they were also out of stock of blush wine and there wasn't a suitable alternative.

Good food and good service. Not easy access although adequate for one of our party in a wheelchair, with limited room in the restaurant and nowhere to put wet coats. Not cheap except for pasta meals. I had duck which was excellent but did not like it served with sweet waffle and pineapple. The rest of the party enjoyed their meal.

Fantastic meal which ticked all the boxes in terms of taste and looks. The staff were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere warm and inviting on a cold valentines night. The steak we had was cooked perfectly and green beans which my husband had were the best he's ever tasted !! My cauliflower cheese was also cooked to perfection and I'm usually difficult to please when it comes to my favourite veg. I thought that the menu selection was excellent- spoiled for choice really and I loved the hot drink and small portion dessert choice in particular as I wanted a dessert but not adult size portion- a great idea!!
We will definitely be back again and work our way through the menu!
Our waitress Hannah was really lovely and was polite and helpful throughout our visit.
