A beautiful 17th-century countryside pub with a Michelin star-trained chef, The Mermaid at Ellington is a perfect rural eatery. Open log fires give it a cosy ambience, and the large beer garden has views of the village church.
Fresh, local produce is at the heart of The Mermaid at Ellington menu, with dishes such as Ellington pigeon breast served with parsnip gratin, turned turnips, shallot lyonaisse and tarragon jus. There is fresh seafood, like the signature dish of soft shell crab with soy, crisp chilli, ginger and spring onion salad. Bold international flavours can be found on the 'Culture Classics' menu, such as Spanish paella, and Caribbean blackened chicken with cilantro.
Desserts at The Mermaid at Ellington also boast innovative flavours, like the chocolate and black bean ice cream with pistachio, beetroot and quinoa crumb. There is a critically selected wine list, and exceptional selection of cask ales and premium beers.
Bringing another level of culinary flair to countryside pub dining, The Mermaid at Ellington is just 2 miles from beauty spot Grafham Water, and 11 minutes' drive from Huntingdon Rail Station.

Love the venison with crispy kale. My mixed seafood starter was Devine and the service offered up by the friendly staff of Robert, Keri and Ann was brilliant. They are friendly and plenty of character. The wines were also excellen. The restaurant had small intimate rooms and great bar with plenty of character. Go the extra mile and give it a try. The chef knows his stuff and will give you great quality food a little different from the norm. Definitely in the Top 5 restaurants around Huntingdon Area.

The staff are excellent here and it is our second time at this restaurant. There was a long wait for out starters (45 mins) and the overall opinion from our party was excellent fresh, beautifully cooked food - however there are too many flavours which sometimes disguise the aforementioned fresh ingredients. In our opinion this menu is much too complicated! We would prefer the menu to be stripped back a little. Will look at the next menu before rebooking - thank you for the birthday desert platter which really was appreciated.

Food as usual was excellent. Think maybe they could offer some 'less fussy ' dishes as well. Our companions found choosing difficult. And steak was their only option really. It was however very good

Great menu for all tastes and diets. Very friendly, attentive, considerate and knowledgeable staff. Locals at the bar gave this place a warm and welcome feel. Kids were greeted and included which for a restaurant with a menu like this is unusual I feel.
We enjoyed the inspired taste blends in all dishes. Perhaps a little too many at times so not for those wanting a standard, familiar pub grub taste.
Wish it was nearer to us!

Wonderfully old surroundings tastefully preserved to provide a good comfortable dining space, The food is so well presented it is almost a crime to disturb it. The colours and flavours in the vegetarian dish are out of this World. The service is second to none with Kiera serving us with her passionate knowledge of the dishes on offer and the wines to compliment. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff to answer your every question. A great selection of food and wines. Having met the Chef and owner Nick, it is clear that you will not have a bad experience here. My friends called it a hidden Gem with the WOW factor. It doesn't get any better than this. A wonderful atmosphere with majestic cuisine made this a fantastic evening. My friends agreed and the word is out.

Lovely resturant in rustic setting with very helpful and attentive staff. We were not aware of the menu until we arrived and was surprised by the meals offered. They are different and it was nice to see but I do think that not everyone is adventurous in their eating and perhaps a couple of very nice staple dishes to choose from in addition to those offered could be of benefit. Although the desert we chose was explained by the waitress it was disappointing, more a spectacular than actual tasty and appetising. Again a very nice staple like chocolate fondant or pannacotta with a twist as an alternative could be of benefit to the menu.

Fantastic meal with superb service and surroundings. The menu offers a real adventure with new tastes and brilliant visual presentation. This is definitely a pub with fine dining aspirations. If you want a new dining experience with lots of originality, give the Mermaid a try. I have enjoyed every meal thus far and will be coming back.
