Situated on the River Yare and the small waterways south of Norwich, The Marsh Harrier has enjoyed its beautiful location since 1840. Tastefully refurbished, it serves classic British pub cuisine in a rustic design, with log piles, a vintage brick hearth and homely trinkets adorning the furniture. The al fresco beer garden for summer dining boasts fantastic views of the eye-catching building and surrounding countryside.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Marsh Harrier menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Marsh Harrier ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

At just 5 minutes’ drive from Norwich, The Marsh Harrier is the perfect country destination close to the city.

Busy at lunchtime so some minor details missing like napkins and had to ask for cutlery. Service was a little rustic but food was good and I would recommend the apple pie which came with custard and ice cream.

We try to make sure we book well in advance each year for Christmas Day Lunch.
Andy and his team help to keep it a family Christmas.
The setting is calm but festive - no loud music so you can't hear yourselves talk.
For us, it's just how you would want it to be if you were dining at home.
The staff work hard - you know they're there but they're not intrusive.
Because the menu choices are ordered in advance, you are served your starter as soon as you are settled at your table.
The food is extremely well presented, tasty and most importantly, hot (if it's meant to be hot of course).
Vegetables, I imagine are fresh, local produce and not out of a bag - the red cabbage this year was delicious.
I visit the Marsh Harrier a few times throughout the year for various reasons so how nice to be told by Andy when ringing up to pay the balance of our Christmas Day meal that he recognised my name - that goes a long way in my book.
I would like to pass on our thanks to Andy and his team at the Marsh Harrier in Norwich for a friendly, but professional service, delivered with a smile.

Waited 50 minutes for meal, carrots were VERY uncooked tried to cut one and went flying across the table, everything was lukewarm even the gravy, beef was tough my ninety old aunt could not eat it, what we did eat was very tasty but not hot enough, We were given a free dessert because of this. But the Easton mess was all just cream hardy any fruit and TWO little pieces of marrange.

Greeting was pleasant and prompt. We were not told directly about placing food orders at the bar, but knew about it because we waited an hour on our previous visit, before we found out. Little notes placed on jars in a dimly lit part of the restaurant are not helpful . Especially to older Customers .
I requested a small amount of table decoration for my husbands 80th birthday, but can't say it was evident.
Two of the three of us were not thrilled with the main course. Mine was luke warm to start with, and the waitress didn't check early enough to make it worthwhile reheating it. It was also supposed to be a smaller sized meal, but it was enough for 2 people who have smaller appetites.
    We all liked the pudding.
In my opinion the restaurant used to be a enjoyable venue, and we had taken friends there several times. The menus are not as varied, the quality of the cooking is not as good, and despite having shareholder vouchers we are unlikely to visit again.

We were greeted very nicely and shown to our table. Because I wear hearing aids our table ws in a corner so I could sit with my back to the wall thereby reducing the amount of background noise. The food was served quite promptly and was well prepared. Plates were not too full but quite sufficient for a luncheon meal. Unfortunately some of the menu was not available but there was still a very good choice to be had. The cost was very good and comensurate with the quality of the food and atmosphere of the Inn. We have been customers before and will be again.
