Headed by Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw, The Mariners Public House is a contemporary pub and restaurant overlooking the Camel Estuary. Fantastic local produce is served, with live music events also featuring.

The Mariners Public House menu is packed with freshly caught seafood – there are Cornish mussels cooked in Wolf Rock IPA, Porthilly oysters with shallot vinegar, and potted Cornish crab served with Doom Bar bread. Steaks at The Mariners come exclusively from South West Farms, aged on the bone for 28-32 days.

There is also a popular Sunday lunch menu at The Mariners Public House Rock, including free range roast pork, vegetarian options like rosemary gnocchi, and desserts like Cornwall strawberries with vanilla set cream. As well as beers from Sharpe's Brewery, there are over 20 bottled varieties from around the world.

Showcasing the very best in Cornish produce, The Mariners Public House is a 35-minute drive from Roche Rail Station.

We were very much looking forward to going to this restaurant/pub. It was a perfect autumn day - crisp and sunny, bright blue skies and we'd worked up an appetite by having a walk before.
Greeting was great and we then went upstairs to find our table and enjoy the view of the coast line and across to Padstow.
The menu was explained to us and we took a few minutes to make our decision. We particularly liked the story of the local producers.
Decision made to order some steak and Beatnaise sauce, triple cooked chips and some courgettes and kale.
Steak was really tender but not that hot. Bearnaise had formed a skin and chips very disappointing - not all giving the crispy bits you expect from triple cooked.

Good but not great food. All felt a bit untidy...

Superb Sunday lunch and definitely glad we booked as it was full. Would definitely return. Have dined previously (not for Sunday lunch) and again, it was excellent. Very friendly and pleasant staff too. I have marked ambience as 5 stars but it really depends what you are looking for. It's a modern fresh interior and buzzing so not quiet and intimate. It is also set right by the Camel Estuary and has fab views over the boats and water. Great outside location. Balcony for outside dining when weather permits.

Very underwhelmed. Having booked a table for 8 some time ago, we were not impressed that they had run out of the specials by 2000.

We were dinning with my in laws and we all enjoyed the food, You were not very busy but we were looked after extremely well and with a nice laid back feeling.

Food excellent. Service a little slow. Disappointed there wasn't any bottles left of the local sparkling wine.

The whole experience was excellent. Breaded hake with courgette chutney and chargrilled courgettes was delicious as was the butter chicken curry. Service was attentive and the views across the estuary to Padstow were beautiful. Our first time eating at The Mariners and we look forward to eating there again before we leave. A buzzing atmosphere full of happy people-wonderful!

Cheerfully noisy; friendly efficient service; great food.
One steak, ordered as medium-well, arrived closer to medium-rare, but this was probably poor communication (it was noisy!), not poor cooking.
