Inside a breathtaking 5-star hotel overlooking the River Thames, The Lounge at the Royal Horseguards is a unique setting to indulge in a luxurious take on the quintessential British tradition of afternoon tea, with an al fresco terrace also on offer for when the weather allows.

Every aspect of the Lounge at the Royal Horseguards afternoon tea menu has been carefully crafted to offer the finest example of traditional British luxury. For starters, there is a unique signature loose leaf tea of strawberries and cream which perfectly complements the moist scones with indulgent clotted cream and jams. Beautifully presented finger sandwiches come with classic fillings such as smoked salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber, and there are also other contemporary savoury bites too.

Inventive sweet surprises are also served at The Lounge at the Royal Horseguards Westminster, such as marmalade jammy dodger, gooseberry inside-out Victoria sponge, and Pimms almondine. As well as the signature tea, there are other exotic blends like organic Monteviot Darjeeling, Oolong Fleur D'Orient, and Persian Pomegranate. Diners can also choose to add glasses of premium champagnes to their meals.

Housed in one of London's most iconic areas, and with wonderfully elegant touches throughout, The Lounge at the Royal Horseguards London sits 3 minutes' walk from Embankment Tube Station.

Very pleasant. Delightful waiting staff although a trifle disorganised. Sandwiches were very dry with little filling. Scones were lovely and cakes excellent. Lovely tea and beautiful crockery even though we had to ask a second time for a fresh pot. Overall a good experience.

Afternoon tea was nice, tea was excellent, for was good and the staff were very responsive.

The Afternoon Tea was underwhelming. The only thing I liked was the specialty tea Strawberry and Cream. Everything else was passable, but I had to make an effort to finish the meal. Quite a difference with my previous experience at the Rosewood Hotel. The service, though friendly, did not fit with the concept of a luxury afternoon tea. Not much focus on details, way too familiar.
The room (lobby) left me unimpressed.
Go somewhere else if you are looking for something to remember.

Wonderful, stylish location for enjoying afternoon tea and to escape the crowd of London. The staff is utterly English and extremely helpful. The food is delicate and delicious.

Afternoon tea: whilst slightly cheaper, the offer does not compare to Fortnum & Masons or Harrods, neither in terms of the venue (annex to the street site hotel lobby with no view) nor quality of food (especially the savouries were a bit of a disappointment) or service. To sum it up, you can do Afternoon Tea at the The Royal Horseguards, but you can do better.

    Excellent and well worth it.

    Disappointing.
This is the 6th time I've been here for Afternoon tea as it's normally superb. This time round, sandwiches were dry, scones were half the size as normal and the wrong tea brought out.
Apart from that staff as always superb and attentive and venue is sublime.

Lovely hotel, made to feel really special. The staff were wonderful, nothing was to much trouble, the afternoon tea looked beautiful when I arrived. There was a good selection of sandwiches but a little more filling would have been nice. The cakes and scones looked and tasted delicious and tea was topped up without having to ask. A great way to spend a leisurely afternoon.
