Excellent, friendly service and very accommodating to the needs of the small children. Amazing food and lovely chilled out atmosphere, and we weren't rushed at all.

A beautiful thatched-roof countryside pub, The Long Dog is an intimate spot for any time of day. A range of contemporary menus are offered, and there are regular live jazz evenings that are big draws.

The Long Dog menu adds international tweaks to traditional British recipes. There is pork belly with black pudding potato cake and pickled cabbage, fresh seafood like salmon fillet with jewelled quinoa and salsa verde, and vegetarian options like pea and mint risotto.

Craft beers from breweries such as BrewDog are served, as well as gluten-free lager and signature cocktails. Inventive desserts at The Long Dog Waddesdon include pear poached in wine and honey with nougat and sorbet, with a full wine list to accompany.

Also offering boutique wedding reception options, The Long Dog is 6 minutes' drive from Aylesbury Vale Parkway Rail Station.

Staff were friendly and atmosphere was really nice around a table for four just in front of the fireplace. Starters and main courses were good but the dessert of Apple Crumble left a little to be desired. Custard was a thimble fill and Crumble was somewhat lacking in apple. When further Custard was requested it was met with almost disbelief. More did come out but not really sufficient. Overall good experience and quite fairly priced.

Very friendly attentive staff. Nice log fire. The food was good quality and lots to choose from.
I live in Waddesdon and therefore got 20% off my meal (only mon-Thursday).
    I would recommend this pub.

We went for a Valentines meal and was really surprised that not many couples were there for it. Our table was for 7.15 the young man who served us was attentive and keen to please. The food was lovely and very well presented. If I was going to pick fault then it would be the time it took to receive our meals. It took 45 minutes to get our starter and we began to think they had forgotten us. The main meal again took nearly the same amount of time. Considering it was not packed in the bar area and where we were they only had 4 tables the delays could not be explained. We did receive an apology from one of the ladies about the delays and perhaps a small drink on the house would of been I order but alas not. Overall our evening was really good and enjoyable.

Food was really good , service was excellent , ambience good , the only niggle was the 1/2 hour wait between the starter and main course , we'd lost our appetites a bit by the time all the lovely main arrived . Hopefully this was a one off , as we will definitely be going again.

As we arrived the bar was very full but someone saw to us quickly, we had reserved a table and some of the people from the bar had surrounded and sat on it, the staff quickly cleared them and after a short wait we were shown to our table. We were informed that the large group of people had just shown up and the waitress apologised for them (which we were grateful for). Our table was in a quiet corner with romantic lighting and we were sat by a window which looked onto the car park and the road. The menu wasn't vast but it was clearly laid out and a good selection. We both decided to have the fillet steak (different weights) we were kindly asked how we liked it my partner asked for rare and I asked for as rare as they could do (I like blue steak but I am aware a lot of places don't cook it that way) the waitress very kindly said I can ask the kitchen to do it blue if you'd like and I appreciated the thought. We had mac and cheese, sweet potato fries and garlic mushrooms for sides. The steaks arrived working good time and were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing quite possibly the best steak we'd ever had.

Overall the service was great and the staff kept checking on us and making sure we were happy and didn't need anything else.

Other than the noise from the unexpected large group of people we were very satisfied with our visit and will definately reccomend and eat at the long dog again.

Took a party of 12 plus an infant for Lunch. Facilities offered were perfect. Bar waiting staff were helpful, patient and at no time tried to rush things, they really added to a relaxing and enjoyable lunch. This was especially appreciated as two wedding parties came through while we were there but at no time did this cause any problems.
Very happy with the food both in terms of choice and quality. The Long Dog burger is excellent, I would return just for that!
Our thanks to all at the Long Dog.
