A charming restaurant just 200 metres from the beautiful Suffolk coast, The Lighthouse in Aldeburgh features in both the Michelin Guide and the Good Food Guide. Making the most of local produce, British classics are joined by Mediterranean flavours on the menu.

Favourites on The Lighthouse Restaurant menu include traditional beer-battered fish and chips and hearty steaks with hand-cut chips and a choice of sauce. Elsewhere on the menu, discover grilled lemon sole with fennel and pomegranate salsa, corn-fed chicken breast with sun-dried tomato and wild mushroom risotto, and gnocchi with gorgonzola and Mediterranean vegetables.

Finish with indulgent desserts like boozy banana pancake with toffee crunch ice cream, or treacle tart with lemon syrup. With large windows, wooden floors and rich yellow and terracotta walls, The Lighthouse is warm, relaxed and welcoming.

A rustic seaside restaurant, The Lighthouse in Suffolk blends fresh flavours with fine wines, local ales and an inviting atmosphere.

Excellent as usual. Lighthouse consistantly serves good, well cooked food in a nice smart casual environment. Service excellent as it always is. We had duck salad and scallops to start, great dishes and then calves liver, beautifully cooked, as was the cod in squid ink risotto. We also had the special braised beef, nice and warming given it turned so chilly last night. Lovely evening once again.

This is our 4th visit to The Lighthouse over the past few years we have visited friends (Mark & Jan Of Billeaford Hall/Barns) in Suffolk. Mark & Jan recommended The Lighthouse when we first visited them, and it has never disappointed. Excellent food, great friendly service and although it is clear that many of the diners are regular visitors or local residents, there is no difference in the experience of a visitor to the locals, which is noticeable in many other establishments that I have visited. We will certainly be back the next time we visit Suffolk. Thank you to all the staff, we'll see you again soon.

One if not our favourite restaurant in Aldeburgh. We always have superb service, the best food in town and very enjoyable. Real value for money and we have never had any problems in all the time we have been going to the Lighthouse.

I took my mother for a belated mother's day lunch and found myself in a lovely restaurant with waitresses who knew the right amount of fuss to make, time between courses to wait and the most pleasant of attitudes. The menu is not big, which I like, too much choice fills me with dread on two counts...the chef isn't a very good cook so hides behind choice or the restaurant is a frozen, pre-prepared, microwave nightmare welcome in a Huxley novel.....neither were visited here, even in passing. Accompanying the simple and understated decor came food, clearly freshly prepared, the smoked haddock pate was delightful and the fish and chips main course was simply delicious....I am a fan of well prepared, fresh food that leaves you feeling you've missed out because this was the first time you've tasted this food....and the portion size was perfect....I have been disappointed on more occassions than not with being fed as though I'm a supermodel on a diet or a sumo wrestler on a binge....I rarely leave a restaurant feeling satisfied, happy and with a stomach that isn't trying to create a new place to live.

We had 2 different waitresses during our meal and I would want them to work in my restaurant, if I owned one. At one point the owner stopped by for a chat and I felt reassured that I was probably going to enjoy my lunch....which we both did.

I grew up in Aldeburgh and have always gone to the proper chip shop for my tea when there (I don't visit much) but I now have somewhere I would happily go instead....high praise as I have driven especially on a 140 mile round trip for my end of the road fish and chips!!

Get yourself to the Lighthouse and just enjoy your dining experience....no need to put an extra hole in your belt or an extra £20 in your wallet....use that for the tip.
