Listed in The Michelin Guide, The Lemon Tree offers contemporary, relaxed fine dining in an historic 16th-century building. Local head chef / proprietor Luke Fishpool has been creating innovative menus for 18 years using local suppliers of seasonal, quality produce wherever possible.

Choose from classic dishes like Godminster cheese souffl, local grass-fed steak and chips or sticky toffee pudding with black treacle ice cream. Alternatively go for the ‘Taste of…’ set menu where seasonal ingredients are regularly showcased.

The wine list shows a similar blend of classic and contemporary with wines from all over the world and occasional hidden gems popping up on our blackboard. Wine and food pairings are showcased with the likes of Croatian Malvasia enjoyed alongside English asparagus. The Private Dining Room is a favourite with local businesses as well as a space for private celebrations, food demonstrations and wine master classes.

Centrally located in the town centre and just 10 minutes from the M11 junction 8 and Stansted airport, The Lemon Tree has its own private car park.

The food was delicious and the waitresses were very pleasant.

Unfortunately the radiator came on half way through the meal and we were unable to turn it off. The waitresses apologised saying they had reported it to management but nothing had been done about it. We tried to open the window. It wouldn't open. We were all roasted and feeling very uncomfortable.

We were moved to another table to finish the meal.

We are very disappointed about this as we were celebrating 3 occasions. Clearly, our guests were not impressed.

Very Old fashioned building located down a back street and if you didnt know better you would pass it by. Nice friendly staff all very helpful and the food well prepared well cooked and well presented. Ended up eating more than was good for me. A very good experience in all .

My wife and I had a wonderful valentines dinner. The raspberry gin cocktail and the Tokaji desert wine were excellent, all served by very friendly and efficient staff. I would highly recommend the Lemon Tree.

Lovely food and atmosphere. Good service and attention to detail throughout the evening. Unfortunately there was a mix up with the bill at the end which was not really apologised for, although it was corrected.

A very nice evening. Started with a drink in the cozy reception area whilst perusing the menu. Moved to our table which was spotlessly clean and well presented. We had three courses, all of which were cooked to perfection.

We were disappointed to find that the restaurant doesn't pass all the tip to the staff if it is paid on card (tip is included in the bill by default too) so we made sure to give the tip in cash, which was well deserved as the service was second to none.

Only a small point, but we also found that the restaurant had stopped providing nibbles with pre-dinner drinks
