Very nice roast lunch.

When we lived in Penshurst in the late 90s we would never ever have recommended the Leicester for a meal but now it is really pretty good. Our lunch was excellent although the puds could have been less 'heavy' after roast beef & Yorkshire pudding! Wine was fine from a reasonable list.
Service at our table was OK but a table near us of 4 adults & 2 children was getting very frustrated by the slowness in arrival of their meal.
I think a 12.5% service charge is pretty steep: it should be left to diners' discretion

We had a lovely table by the fire, candles were lit and the atmosphere was lovely. We had really delicious food and fine wine and we were given a complimentary bottle of sauternes wine to go with our heavenly pud. Such a kind gesture and so appreciated. This is a very special pub.

Lovely looking pub and restaurant though the pub was much warmer and the restaurant empty apart from one other table. Staff very pleasant and attentive. We ordered the Chateaubriand and were disappointed with the quality of the cut and the fact that it was almost cold. There was more gristle than you would expect also. Taste was ok but not the best cut of meat. Accompanying veg and chips great. We did explain our concerns without moaning and the management very kindly took the cost of our wine off the bill which was very much appreciated. Warm treacle tart was superb. We would go back and try something different from the menu but based on our experience wouldn't recommend it to someone else until we tried it again first.

Excellent food. The restaurant was a bit too cold and two windows wouldn't shut properly. Our waitress took a long time to ask us what we'd like to drink. However once the food arrived it was really delicious.

We had dinner on new years eve in the restaurant. There was no special menu, but the food is delicious! We stayed in the hotel and will go back very soon. The total experience was perfect!

Thursday 29th December. Parking very difficult. Typical pub food, not an innovative menu but food served was excellent. Service very slow due to insufficient staff allowed for a very busy lunchtime.

Service very slow and generally bad. Food very disappointing plum crumble inedible and ice cream melting before arriving at table. In all a very bad experience and paid tip grudgingly.

Lovely place. Great decor, fab food. Service a little slow but a nice place to sit and wait all the same.
