Great food, friendly and efficient service

Housed in an elegant Georgian building, The Langton is a cosy retreat close to the boutiques of the spa town of Cheltenham. With an outdoor dining area, as well as a spacious restaurant and bar, this gastro pub serves a menu of modern British dishes with a Mediterranean twist.
With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Langton menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest available ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.
The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Langton bar in Charlton Kings. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.
The Langton in Gloucestershire is an 8-minute drive from Cheltenham Spa Railway Station.

Starter was cold, main needed to be sent back. Removed from bill. 2 courses took 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Disappointed as booked the offer of £12.95 for Sunday dinner and when we got there we were told that they had run out of Sunday dinner!!! So we had to choose from the main menu which was not what we wanted. However the food was good.

A really welcoming environment with a great selection of food, even for vegetarians! Delicious reasonable priced food and a bonus they have a cheese board to finsih and not just sweet deserts. Lovely to sit by the open real fire. The salad with the crispy chicken was a little small. The green tea was brewed too long for my liking, but this is just a personal preference. Everything else was fine.

Dined here on many occasions and, as usual, found service and general ambience good. (We noted with interest the number of diners who had young children with them.) However we all found the vegetables definitely undercooked on this occasion - but enjoyed the drink+mini desert option.

Told us table was ready so we walked over to be seated and they then told us to wait to be seated as table needed to be cleared. Stood waiting for 10 min. My mum is disabled and finds standing difficult. We had seats and were quite happily drinking. We only moved as they told us to.
Never mind we thought!
Ordered sharing plate and as I cut it for us to share I noticed the chicken was still raw! They apologised profusely. Took the plate and cutlery away and then recooked the chicken but put it back on the same plate.
Never mind we thought! It is Christmas Eve they are really busy.
Mains came and yuk!
My lamb was so chewy I couldn't eat it. The asparagus was the ends for the bin not the tips and was grilled to death.
My Dad's steak was inedible (came back home for the dogs). The triple cooked chips were the soggiest ever.
We were there to celebrate so we decided not to complain too much as complaining ruins the Christmas spirit.
The pudding sharing plate was fabulous. We mentioned our dissatisfaction and had our puddings taken off the bill.
Thank you for our Christmas Eve dinner. This was definitely not your best. We eat here on special occasions but we now have been put off.

A very good lunch for three people. Excellent food and service, which in these times is good to receive.

Not a great experience overall disappointed . Not a pleasant way we were greeted and shirty stressed staff waiting on the table made me not want to return . Food good but service is as much part of overall dining experience . Bill was £100 including tip. Will just eat in the bar in future

My partner and I stopped for Sunday lunch after having a couple of very enjoyable days at the Cheltenham Literary Festival. The lunch was excellent with first class service, though the place was very busy, and was a fine ending to our trip.
