Pre-dating the Domesday Book in 1084, it is thought that The Lamb Inn was formerly a shepherd’s cottage. Even now, the pub has a 24-hour license in lambing season, showing that the rustic qualities are not just visual. Featuring brick arches, pastoral equipment on display, a cosy hearth and an al fresco beer garden, The Lamb Inn is truly a great British country pub, with well-loved food to match.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Lamb Inn menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Lamb Inn ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Hidden in the beautiful, remote countryside of East Sussex, The Lamb Inn Battle is 4 minutes’ drive from Hooe or 5 minutes from Pevensey Bay Train Station.

We had ordered our pre-lunch drinks only to discover that they didn't have any Worcestershire or Tabasco sauceas as an addition to the glass of tomato juice. Also the Apple puff pastry pudding didn't come with puff pastry at all, in fact the pastry was indescribable and we're not sure what it was!

Wonderful interior and atmosphere. Spotlessly clean and bright. Food was wonderful. Traditional roasts beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Vegetarian option was delicious. Sweets especially the cheesecake were fabulous.
Waiter was friendly and helpful. Service was a little slow but they were very busy and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

    Service fine
    Menu choices fine
The food tasted fine but was almost cold
Requested tomato sauce and was given an empty bottle. Other sauces with meals are offered in a little dish but request tomato sauce and an empty or grubby looking bottle it plonked on the table. Not very professional

Very enjoyable evening. The only slight criticism would be how quickly the main arrived after our starter which gave a small feeling of being rushed ..

My wife and I have visited the Lamb on several occasions and have always been warmly greeted by the young attentive staff. The old country pub ambience was very cosy and friendly. The food was excellent and well presented. On our last visit we had a good table opposite the fireplace. There is plenty of parking space outside
