A fantastic old building, The King’s Head - Billericay has a unique black and white timbered appearance, dating back to 1750. Serving well-loved pub cuisine, which can be enjoyed from the pretty beer garden in summer or by the log-fire in winter, it has a rustic oak and brick design. Adorning the walls and surfaces are other pastoral trinkets, such as cosy candles and art.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The King’s Head menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The King’s Head ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Kingfisher is a country haven, but just 6 minutes’ drive from Billericay.

The meal was quite good. The five of us all chose the same two courses from the festive menu. The prawn and lobster cocktail was delicious with enough but not too much sauce and the turkey dinner was very generous with plenty of meat and a good selection of vegetables. The only real criticism would be the service itself which was not particularly good and whilst the waitresses were very pleasant it appeared that they were understaffed especially for this busy time of year.

Cosy christmassy feel as we entered the restaurant, with a real fire flickering and old beams draped with greenery and baubles. Service was prompt and our waitress was friendly and attentive. Food from the regular menu was tasty, well presented and good value for money. Christmas menu more expensive overall but not pricey. Our party of five all enjoyed our starters and main meals and our time at the restaurant. Thank you to the Kings Head staff for giving us such an enjoyable experience and we plan to return in the New Year.

Me and my husband enjoyed Sunday lunch here on Sunday not for the first time, always a very enjoyable meal and excellent service. The Kings Head is always our first choice if going for lunch on a week day as well. Never had a bad experience we have even book a Boxing Day meal that we are both looking forward to.

Welcoming atmosphere. Smart decor. Spacious. Clean. Italian Tom/bean soup, really hot and tasty, loved the rustic bread too. Chicken pie was just delicious, like homemade.
