Set in a Tudor inn dating back to the 1400s, The Kings Arms brings elegant British cuisine to the quaint, boutique-filled village of Old Amersham. Housed in the oldest part of the hotel, the medieval-style dining room is filled with twisted wooden beams, lattice windows and grand open fireplaces, and the bar offers an impressive stock of smooth cask ales and fine wines.

Breakfast in the restaurant offers both continental and English cooked breakfasts, with a variety of choices. The A La Carte dinner menu features roast pheasant with truffle mousse, braised red cabbage, glazed chestnuts, redcurrant & juniper berry sauce, grilled Angus cross beef rump, herb butter, chips & side salad, and pan-fried scallops with Parmentier potatoes, roasted cherry vine tomato sauce & a fresh salad. Apple tart with Amaretto ice cream & calvados raisins leads the tempting desserts menu.

During the day the traditional, beamed 15th century bar is open to provide a range of drinks & bar food. The Kings Arms hotel has been used extensively in TV and film productions, including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Miss Marple & Midsomer Murders. It has also hosted many famous & historic guests, such as Oliver Cromwell.

The Kings Arms Restaurant in Amersham is a 15-minute walk from Amersham Rail Station.

At last minute was diverted from restaurant to a table in the bar area due large crowd in restaurant. NOT happy. Meal was fair but service spasmodic.

The food was excellent and well presented.
The service was good to start with. Staff were polite & efficient. Towards the end of the meal, however, the service became less efficient. We had to ask for tea, we were not offered desert and removal if our finished plates did not take place despite so few people in the restaurant.

Also, when we went for our dinner, we had not expected to have a discussion taking place on the next table about a couples wedding reception plans. Two members of staff and the couple talked about menus, drinks costs etc.

My suggestion is that the guests could have been taken into another area to discuss their plans. One, for their privacy and two, for ours. w
We didn't particularly wish nor expect to listen to their business meeting whilst we had our dinner.

Perhaps next time we will have a different experience.

First visit to the restaurant as it was recommended by a friend. Nice clean cosy restaurant. Waiting staff were very pleasant and friendly. We ordered 3 ribeye steaks which were lovely but was not impressed and did not enjoy the wagyu burgers (I've had a wagyu burger before at another restaurant and it was delicious) it did not taste nice and over priced.

We were the only people in the Dining Room for lunch, being strangers to the town, and it was easy to see why!
The menu was uninteresting and the food unappealing and grossly overpriced.

We had a very pleasant lunch in the bar area with a group of friends. The alcove area was very convenient as we were not too near other people.

very poor. only people in there for lunch - ten days before Xmas. Food was either not as described, overcooked , cold , plates were cold too. A very sterile disappointing experience - even without take into account the price.

Got off to a shaky start - when we asked for a bottle of sparkling water, the waitress brought a bottle of still. We picked her up on this and she returned with two small bottles of sparkling... Service was a bit slow as well, especially as the restaurant was empty. I ended up going to the bar to order our food. When it arrived, the food was tasty. The building is lovely, and I'll dine there again in future - I believe we just caught them on a bad day.
