Overlooking Cardington village green, The Kings Arms – Bedford is a country-style pub with a beer garden for al fresco dining on warm days. With rustic interiors including a fireplace, cowhide rugs & weathered wooden benches, the gastro pub serves a menu of simple yet flavourful British food.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Kings Arms menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Kings Arms – Bedford cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

Lovely food and the waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful. Even when they were pretty busy.
    A lovely relaxed informal restaurant.

Service was quite slow but we went on Saturday lunchtime and there appeared to be only 2 waiting staff. However they were very polite and helpful.

Food was lovely as always. Never had a bad meal here. The only drawback my aunt ordered a calypso coffee which the waitress thought was a capsule coffee. We waited 25 minutes although the waiter did amend the order before it came. Unfortunantly none is us could taste the Tia Maria.

We had stopped coming to the Kings Arms as previously the service was sold, but I am happy to report this has improved and the food was excellent, I am salivating at the mere thought of how wonderful it was. I shall certainly have lunch there again.

A very nice meal in pleasant surroundings

Excellent welcome from staff member behind the bar. Waitress efficient. There were a variety of things unavailable on the menu including rustic bread which we didn't think was acceptable. Noisy large table of men dining near us which made conversation difficult for us. Glass of wine ridiculously expensive. Main courses were tasty but could have been warmer. Really like the mini desserts and hot drink - good value. There are other local restaurants serving meals which are better value for money. Unsure if we will return to your establishment in the near future.

Fish and chips although nicely cooked was a very small portion for the price. Don't bother with the battered halloumi! Two slices in a soggy batter served with ten chips from a bag (not twice cooked or crisp) and a blob of pea purée that had dried and formed a crust! All the after a 45 minute wait after sitting down at 12.15pm. Unlikely to return unless the standard improves.

We dine here often and don't usually have any problems. The food, service and atmosphere are fabulous but ordered a cheeseboard without blue cheese. Twice it came out with blue cheese and I was told it wasn't possible to remove it . The waitress asked me if that 'was okay ?' Clearly not but I wasn't sure how to make the request any simpler so I just went with yes and a resigned sigh which I think was lost on her. Having to eat here again on this space.

Portion sizes too small, my wife ordered the hot salmon salad just two stalks of broccoli, and about 4 small pieces of mushroom, and something that looked like a small piece of pepper, taste was good, but not enough for a main meal most disappointing!! I had the burger and fries....a few small fries served in a metal bucket....taste was good but the portions miserly. Our guests had the burger and fries, and the lamb rump, again very small. The puddings were marginally better, we had the eton mess, and custard tart, and the pomme tart!! To be quite honest the childrens meal which the little girl who was with us had were much more adequate, she had two large sausages and mash, a bit overdone and chewy but she enjoyed it, and two scoops of chocolate ice cream to follow.
This was a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was most disappointing.
Staff were very attentive though, such a shame about the food!!

Was a really nice venue, good atmosphere with plenty of Christmas parties happening. But Sat at the back room was not disturbed by them. The Menu had a good range and have to say the food was very tasty, full of flavour and well cooked. Do highly recommend the winter berry eaton mess desert with blackcurrent meringue, was amazing. Only slight downside was the wait to take our order and between courses, but they were very busy and we were in no rush.
