Had a lovely meal - chose black pudding potato cake on bed of spinach with poached egg and hollandaise sauce - delicious!

Boasting a patio for al fresco dining, The King William IV is a refurbished country-style pub serving a selection of modern British dishes. A naturally-lit bar area & a restaurant with wooden floors, stone floors & fur-lined chairs make this gastro pub an idyllic retreat.

With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The King William IV menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.

The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The King William IV bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

The King William IV in Essex is a 3-minute walk from Chigwell Tube Station.

Not impressed with most of the food althoughmy duck salad was lovely the manager was very apologetic and helpful
We sat outside and was pestered by loads of bluebottle flies But I do like the laid back atmosphere. Just sort the food out

Went for Sunday roast. Overall the presentation was good however the unfortunately the food was a little disappointing. Both my friend and I couldn't eat our carrots; they taste foul. It really ruined the plate. The crazy Had no taste, and the food overall was not hot.

    Very noisy restaurant.
Tough and small portion fillet steak.
Gristly lamb cutlet without much meat.

The food was fine but the staff are rude, treated like a naughty school boy for giving my 17 year old daughter a sip of my wine .

Great choice of food. Pork belly was delicious. Other friends had the duck, burgers etc. All were very complimentary about their choices.

It was like a meal of 2 halves; the staff though very friendly were a little forgetful, I had to ask 3 times before I got a glass of tap water! My rack of lamb was delicious but my husbands ribeye steak was so tough he sent it back! They did however replace it with the fillet steak and didn't charge us and gave us a free drink. Very busy, lively restaurant/pub nicely decorated and I will go there again. My biggest complaint £3.05 for a gin and £2.50 for the tonic!!!!!!!!!!
