Our arrival was an hour early which was a mistake on our behalf, the waitress apologised as the table was not dressed, we were told the table would usually have a table cloth and rose petals, but we were not given the option to have this rectified (I think it would have been nice to be asked). We had 3 different waitresses throughout our afternoon tea who were all polite, though we were left unattended most of the time. The food was ok, the sandwiches were nice as were the scones but they were not served with all of there traditional accompaniments, only cream, no butter and jam, we had to ask for that separately when a waitress came back in, to be fair we were asked if we would like a glass of prosecco for the inconvenience but we declined as we were driving. Unfortunately the cakes were not enjoyable at all, they were very soggy at the bottom so we did not eat them. Once we finished we sat and waited again for a waitress so I could pay but we had no luck. There was a door open in the room leading straight outside which people could take advantage of but I went to the front reception and payed for the tea, at first I was only charged for 1 but said there was 2 of us so again, this could have been taken advantage of. I did not mention this at the time as it would have been inappropriate as it was a special day out for my mum and I.

Would have liked a selection of teas.
Would have liked more brown bread sandwiches.
Selection of cakes could be improved.
Also cakes served up were cold and seemed like they had come straight from the freezer. They could have been warmedi up.

Our waitress was very helpful and pleasant and made us welcome.

Nice meal. We came to see what the food was like as thinking of having our wedding here. Nice food for a 3 star hotel and certainly nice enough for a wedding breakfast. Would have liked crispier roast potatoes but veg were delicious.

I booked the table for 5 to celebrate my 82 year old father's birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and found the service excellent.

My Dad and I were greeted by a charming front of house staff member by the name of Jess and literally nothing was too much trouble for her - Jess is an absolute credit to the Kings Cliff and I hope she has a long and progressive career with the hotel. Now on to the food which was from a 3 course Sunday lunch menu priced at a very reasonable £15.95. Dad had a crayfish salad and I had the breaded brie - both freshly prepared and delicious. On to the mains, I had roast pork and Dad had roast beef - both generous portions with 2 gravy filled Yorkshires, fresh veg cooked to perfection and delicious perfect roast potatoes cooked I think with some rosemary and just a little garlic - sublime! Dessert-wise Dad had treacle sponge and I had a chocolate melting pudding - both with ice cream and a perfect end to a very pleasant meal all of which was very well presented on the plate so compliments all round to the chef! Should also mention we had a very nice table for two by the window with sea views. Highly recommended and we will return when I next visit my Dad who lives in Clacton.
