A lovely meal and ambience but unfortunately 2 members of the party didn't get their preferred choice of main course as you had run out of beef.

Food excellent. Fiona and I had the roast beef. Some of the table waiters need sharpening up on service, some were a little too relaxed, table service should go unnoticed and yet everything should be there when you need it. Our glasses for example would Become empty despite haveing a bottle of champagne and claret on the table. The surroundings were excellent and the front of house staff very good. Generally the negative comments I have made are details, a matter of fine tuning. On the whole the staff were very nice people and extremely polite. We will be back very soon.

Although we have been members for a while now its the first time we have actually eaten in the restaurant. It truly was excellent , all the staff were fantastic,as was the atmosphere and food. The only things I was surprised at was to see boxing on the TV in the bar and only one gents toilet working I had to queue with another chap. Will definitely come regularly.

The interior design of the Kennels has a nice, warm welcoming feeling. We booked for my mothers 65th Birthday after our Elite helicopter ride at Goodwood. Upon arriving we were stood outside the doors to the restaurant while the waitress confirmed our table. Two of our party went to the toilet whilst waiting. Once sat down bread was offered to those of us that were seated, we asked for plates but were refused and told it was policy, so continued to butter our bread on the table cloth! When the other two joined us they had to ask for their bread. The staff seemed very inexperienced at this point. We had to ask to order drinks. The waitress delivering the drinks was struggling with the tray. One of the waiters was very good and took time to explain some vegetarian options to me that could be prepared by the chef. Three of our party had cod and risotto. Sadly the taste was so rich that they all left their main meal. My partners meal was overcooked, the other two meals were fine. Having heard good things about the restaurant I'm afraid we were left feeling that our experience was just ok. The staff were very inexperienced and I would suggest that one waiter/waitress is allocated per table rather than three who seemed to be confusing each other. The environment was lovely and we will return for drinks but sadly not for food. It wasn't the experience I was hoping for my mothers special birthday.

Unusually reluctant to discuss our dinner in a public forum. If the kennels would like an honest feedback they can contact me directly.
Suffice to say it was not up to their normal excellent standard. Sorry.

We enjoyed our dinner with you very much and will not hesitate to dine with you again although we do have some reservations. EG It is unnecessary to have the service charge already added for a party of four. The ambiance was charming - our waiting staff were helpful and pleasant - the wine waiter obviously knew his list - but noone once, despite there being very obvious long gaps in the service, came to ask if we were happy or in need of anything. It was hard to visualise the dishes from the menu descriptions. The crab although we overheard it being described as white meat was tasteless...if it really was Selsey crab, we were expecting something tasty not a brown pate wrapped in a hard tubular biscuit. Other fish dishes ordered were well presented and delicious. The pork was mostly dry and tough and we were surprised that when the plates were cleared no one asked if there was a reason that it was virtually untouched. All these things, although not especially significant, if corrected would have made a significant difference to our dining experience.

Unusually bad service, waiting staff wandering around in dream, had to wait for each thing requested - pre lunch drinks order to be taken, menu, mustard and horseradish, table to be cleared.

Excellent food and equally good service.

It was a quiet and relaxed setting with a table looking out over the lawn. The meal which we both thoroughly enjoyed was well cooked and tasty. I expected the waiting staff to be a little more polished on their silver service but they were polite, very pleasant and helpful. The choice available was not as varied as I thought it could be ie quite a lot of fish on the menu which we would not appreciate if we didn't like fish. But I suspect this may have been due to the time of year, no doubt more game on offer in the hunting season. We liked the idea that we could go and eat our cheese in the lounge area which we thought was quite romantic as it was out 28th wedding anniversary. There was a little bit of an issue with our bill which we didn't notice until we got home, but it was sorted out within days and a refund was received... Thank you very much.
