Excellent food and service. Price not bad for for the overall quality of the experience. Will visit again when in the area.

From first stepping into the restaurant until it's time for leaving, nothing but the absolute bes, friendly service is given. It's a welcoming, cosy and relaxing atmosphere. You enter the room with a welcome, your coats are taken care of, you are seated in the relaxing lounge area, where you order your pre drink. While enyoing the pre meal drink you can take your time choosing your meal, without any rush from the staff. Once you've ordered and you are ready, you will be taken to your table, which is placed again in a relaxing, homely surrounding. We have been several times and couldn't possible say what is my favoured dish. Every dish is made to perfection. Even when you think, you couldn't possible eat another bite, you will, because you couldn't just leave it. Every mouthful is an experience and a delight.

Excellent. The service was first rate and not intrusive. The food was delicious, so flavoursome! We were given a watercress soup as a little taster at the start, it was fab!

I've been wanting to eat at Jack in the Green for ages but live a bit too far away. The opportunity came up yesterday, we went there for lunch with some friends. What a great pub. My first impression when I went through the door was that it wasn't over-decorated or pretentious. The staff was very friendly and looked after us very well. We went for the pub menu: fish pie, venison pie, fish and chips. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. Not everyone would agree but the fact that my plate was not crammed high full of food was a definite plus! Sorry, we couldn't manage a pudding but it all looked delicious. I could tell that a lot of care was taken in preparing the food and that the ingredients were good.

I like eating out and what can be a real turn-off is a pub that pretends to be something else. This is definitely not the case with The Jack in the Green. Fantastic place, I love it. Ten out of ten for everything!

Booking over the Internet worked fine. Enjoyed the meal v much-interesting dish choices and enjoyed the veggie option. V friendly staff. The only think that slightly spoils it for us was that there were some loud diners sitting quite near us but don't think there much you could have done about that.
