The restaurant looked good and felt warmer and cosier than a previous visit at this time of year. There was a good atmosphere. The food was great and staff friendly and helpful

Having eaten at 'The Inn at West End' several times over the years, on this occasion sadly it was a disappointing experience.

Our table was booked for 7pm but, having been told there was a 2 hour time limit on all tables, we arrived early to make the most of the evening. Unfortunately this worked against us as we were given a table with only one proper chair and the uncomfortable,(and too low for the table) "bench" seat.

The set menu was very pleasing and the quality and presentation of the food was, from past experience, equally as good, although the portions were a little on the small side for a meal costing £45 per person.

Being Valentines Night it was a very busy evening for the staff who all worked hard. However, unfortunately after our starter we were then forgotten and had a 30 minute wait for our main course to arrive. Other diners nearby, (who had arrived after us), meanwhile were either being served their main course or, in one case, their dessert.

It was also noticeable how close to each other the tables had been placed, as we could not help but hear all the conversation of the couple sitting adjacent to us. When getting up to leave we had to squeeze out carefully from our seats taking care not to knock over their wine glasses!

We were left with the feeling that Valentines Day was the perfect occasion for 'The Inn' to "move" the maximum number of diners through the restaurant that evening as there was a constant stream of couples arriving almost up to the time we left. This spoiled being able to dine in relaxing surroundings because as the evening progressed it eventually felt like factory production line.

By way of an apology, 'The Inn' did not charge us for our two glasses of wine - nevertheless next Valentines Day we will dine elsewhere.

This was our first visit and we were greeted by the staff very warmly. My husband and my brother very much enjoyed the food but I was a little unsure about my main course. The service was good and we found the surroundings pleasant.
