A stunningly converted old tramshed, The Hop Bar & Kitchen Saltaire is a buzzing venue. The kitchen boasts a wood-fired oven for pizzas, there is a great ale selection, and an always-evolving lineup of live music. The al fresco seating area is also a great summer hangout.

There is a great selection of gastropub dishes on The Hop Bar & Kitchen menu – wild boar sausages come with creamy mash, caramelised onion gravy and seasonal veg, while the pie of the day is always a popular choice. Tender cuts of steak feature on the grill menu, there are sharing platters, and generous salads. The pizza kitchen offers traditional topping combinations like Italian sausage and porcini mushroom, but also includes innovative combinations like roast chicken with lemon and garlic butter and procuitto.

Desserts at The Hop Bar & Kitchen in Shipley include classics like warm chocolate brownie, and baked raspberry cheesecake with fruit coulis. A great selection of cask ales and international beers are on tap, and a select wine list is also available.

Also serving up popular Sunday roasts, The Hop Bar Kitchen is an energetic, unique space. Saltaire Rail Station is only 9 minutes' walk away.

Overall this seemed like a lively drinking place, aimed at the younger market rather than an eating place. There was a live band playing with music in between. Both were so loud that conversation was impossible. Even the waitress struggled to take our order. The food was pub grub style neither good nor bad. The overall consensus of six of us was that it was lacking in taste. The best review was for the pizzas. We enjoyed ourselves but went home rather hoarse.

Excellent service, good value for money food and all of us enjoyed the Ossett Brewery real ale. Our party thought that the owners could have projected the heritage of the building and place far better. This would have been more interesting than the confused neon ubiquitous style which will need a make over sooner than later. If we hadn't done our research the external appearance would have made us give it a miss. Our recommendation to Ossett Brewery is to recognise and celebrate the quality of your own history. Neighbouring real ale houses not to mention the brilliant Salts Mill did this better.

We go to the Hop at Saltaire every couple of weeks with friends.
Food is always good and well prepared.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, I can't praise our waitress Vicky enough, she is always smiling and nothing is ever too much trouble.

Great food, service fast. Glad we had booked a table for a Saturday night as it was really busy.

Great meal as usual. Very good service too. They were easily able to cope with the two gluten free and vegetarian diners and we were all very happy.
