An attractive hideaway in the Cheshire countryside, The Hayhurst Arms in Bostock Green serves fresh British food, cask ales and an impressive collection of malt whiskies. On the site of the former village social club and reading room established in 1845, the historic building houses open fires, rustic furniture and oak flooring.

In the spirit of modern British cooking, The Hayhurst Arms menu merges classic British dishes with ingredients from around the world. This is evident in rich dishes like pork tenderloin stuffed with apricot, sage and pistachio, wrapped in air-dried ham with a Calvados reduction. More traditional choices come in the form of 10oz rump steak with horseradish butter, or steak and kidney suet pudding with buttered mash and greens.

Oozing with cosy rural charm inside, The Hayhurst Arms near Northwich also boasts a sunny terrace and landscaped garden. A true village pub, the bar offers a wide selection of cask ales and a carefully chosen wine list.

A picture-book pub at the heart of its community, The Hayhurst Arms in Cheshire sits just 10-minutes from Northwich.

Excellent food and service as usual. Good variety of dishes, some of which you don't see anywhere else. Wine and other drinks are a bit expensive, but that seems to be the same everywhere.

The starters were fine, and my partner's main was too, but I was disappointed with my main course. The pork belly - firstly, too much quantity, but the quality of the pork was not good. not only was it difficult to cut through (serrated knife needed) but it was tough and chewy, not as pork belly should be. I was chewing it long after my partner had finished.and had to leave some. This was a shame because we have had excellent fare here before. The accompanying rice, too, was dry and tasteless, and the overall plateful did not deliver the oriental flavour advertised. I did not have an opportunity to say anything as we were not asked whether we enjoyed the meal..

The surrounding and décor were lovely and had a nice atmosphere. I ordered the Smoked haddock and crab fishcakes which came with a tomato and spring onion salad.....a handful of watercress and a bit of tomato does not constitute a salad in my book. There was no sign of any spring onion either! It was expensive for the amount that I had and the fishcakes were smallish it was more like as starter than a main meal. I wasn't impressed by the menu choices and thought they were overpriced. I would go there as a nice place to have a drink or perhaps try a sandwich at lunchtime but not blown away by the choice of main evening meals did not seem good value to me. That said the staff were friendly and customer service was good.

A very pleasant dining experience. Only criticism was the very large size of the roast potatoes.

Large restaurant which despite its size had quite a cosy feel as it was sub divided into smaller areas. Service was very good, friendly and efficient waitresses. We weren't waiting too long for service or between courses. Food good but nothing out of the ordinary and maybe a little prices. Overall a nice experience.

Good meal and venue. Run out of a lot of the beers on tap.
