Very enjoyable visit to the Hawk and the courtesy of the staff was unquestionable.
Jane, our waitress, was an absolute delight serving us and really made our visit a pleasure, hope to see her again.

Situated in a historic village over the River Crouch, The Hawk in Battlesbridge dates back to the 17th century, still a charming country inn. Serving time-honoured British pub dishes, The Hawk has pretty, extensive gardens with seating for al fresco dining. Inside, the rustic oaken beams, cosy hearth-fire and local antiques diversify the furnishings, but aid the country feel.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Hawk menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Hawk ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Hawk is just 2 minutes’ walk from Battlesbridge Train Station, in Essex.

Food was fine but did not come with much in the way of accompaments. E.g. We had to pay for extras like salad, chips etc. Which then made it expensive. iPads to take the clients choice of foods on didn't work and waitress resorted to pen and paper.

Excellent service and food was very good, hardly ant waiting but it wasn't busy . The only down side was as we walked in it was cold, we were not near the fire and I asked if the heating was on and the waitress said they had just turned it up. We all felt chilly for a while.

Booking service very good idea. The service was good, along with the food which was served very quickly. My only point would be that it was very draughty and quite cold where we were sitting.

Nice atmosphere and the Sunday roast was lovely.

Food was delicious, only fault I would say was there probably wasn't enough staff on, on a busy Saturday afternoon had to wait quite a while between course's, which isn't great when you have young children that get impatient and bored quickly. If you can speed things up would definitely eat here again.
