It was an excellent 3 course meal. Well presented & portions not too big. The waitress was very helpful & cheerful enhancing the evening.

Situated in a historic village over the River Crouch, The Hawk in Battlesbridge dates back to the 17th century, still a charming country inn. Serving time-honoured British pub dishes, The Hawk has pretty, extensive gardens with seating for al fresco dining. Inside, the rustic oaken beams, cosy hearth-fire and local antiques diversify the furnishings, but aid the country feel.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Hawk menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Hawk ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Hawk is just 2 minutes’ walk from Battlesbridge Train Station, in Essex.

The service and food were first class. The refurbishment of the Hawk was excellent. All in all a lovely pub, great food and atmosphere. Will definitely go again.

New makeover is very good, and food was excellent especially the King prawn linguine and the sticky toffee pudding. A slight criticism was the flatness of the 2 ales I had, namely the London pride and Doombar, but that apart it was the best meal that my wife and I have had out in months. Thank you

Took my Mum and Dad to The Hawk for lunch in a Saturday.
I have been to The Hawk a few times now.

It's always lovely food, it wasn't to busy but I felt the gap between ordering and the food being served was a bit too long.

Overall it was a lovely little afternoon, the food was lovely and there was no hassle.

I would recommend to family and friends!!

Well worth a little wait for our food. We all had different roast dinners and each one was tasty, well presented and plentiful. Desserts were yummy too. Shame they had run out of the chocolate bomb but as it was a new menu I'm sure they will sort that out! The staff were lovely and friendly and made us feel very welcome. All in all a wonderful visit. Thank you 'The Hawk '

Well presented old pub in a pretty village. Online booking easy but on the phone for some time trying to determine whether pub could prepare a vegan dish. A carrot salad offered! On the day there was an avocado and beetroot ciabatta with a kale and red pepper soup which was very nice. Menu offered soya milk for coffee but this was not available; very disappointing. Waitress lovely and really looked after us and gave the children lots of special attention.
