From the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant Ametsa with Arzak Instruction, afternoon tea at COMO The Halkin draws on the principles of Basque cuisine to add the restaurant’s trademark flair to the classic British concept. Replacing the traditional elements of afternoon tea are a range of savoury tapas and stunning desserts, making for a unique and indulgent experience.

Irresistible sweet and savoury dishes make up the Ametsa afternoon tea menu. Start with a traditional Basque skewer, Iberico ham and Manchego cheese pillow, or spider crab tempura. Amongst the sweet options, savour the lime custard and banana tartlet, or the sumptuous combination of chocolate with churros.

As well as a choice of Jing teas, extra indulgence can be added in the form of a chilled glass of Spanish cava, to be enjoyed in an elegant but relaxed setting. The Ametsa afternoon tea is served in COMO The Halkin bar and lounge, a chic venue showcasing stunning contemporary design.

A stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, COMO The Halkin in London sits in one of the most prestigious areas of the capital. Hyde Park Corner Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

The Arzak tea was delicious. The bar has no atmosphere but the food compensated.

Firstly, I must say that the service was impeccable. This is a must for any F&B outlet and this place surpassed my expectations in every way, especially in its service. The food was amazing, very unique. I really liked the Avocado Sandwich, Spider Crab Tempura and Pork Croquette. The desserts were amazing too. But the tea was one of my favourites. The flavour of my white tea was so good and fresh. The only thing is that... they shouldn't let the tea simmer in the water past a certain amount of time, otherwise the flavour that exudes from the tea leaves becomes bitter. While the view wasn't anything great, the food and service made up for it. Of course, if the view was better, then it would be perfect.

It was a absolute joy! The hotel is lovely, the staff was fantastic, especially Mario, who was knowledgable and attentive without being intrusive. The food was definitely unique and twist on afternoon tea. The only possible downside was that the bar was empty apart from us. This suited out party as it was a perfect setting for a long catch up, but it meant that the atmosphere was somewhat lacking, if that is what you are after.

The food was good, nicely presented and a welcome change to the traditional afternoon tea. Only downside is that we were sat in the bar and not the restaurant and this made the experience feel less and for the price I think this should be changed. Service was also good, knowledgeable and helpful.

Loved the tapas style afternoon tea. It was v different! Spider crab bite was my favourite! Service was lovely, maybe a tiny bit slow but we were in no hurry. Would've been good to be able to order extras savoury bits on the side. It was good to have more than just cava for the choice of cold drinks. Had a great time. Thank you!

Very helpful and friendly service from the waiter and waitress. A lovely afternoon tea of delicious Spanish tapas and devine desserts. The accompanying cocktails were great too! I would definitely go back again to try the Ametsa restaurant for some more Basque country cuisine.

Not the Halkin Bar per se, but afternoon tea by Ametsa served in the (albeit rather quiet) bar; just to avoid any confusion...!

So if it's Ametsa at the helm it's going to be an afternoon tea with a twist and it was an exquisite Basque take on the format. Pea soup with chorizo in shot glasses, spider crab croquettes and chocolate churros all featured in delightful 'pintxo' portions. Washed down with some excellent pink Cava.

Fabulous service and my only gripe would be the waiter taking away the empty plate from my partner's side of the table whilst I was still eating - I thought that only happened in South Africa!

the Spanish twisted afternoon tea is a blast. The taste, texture, presentation is marvelous. You will be surprised on what you have.
