The starters and Sunday roasts were delicious. It was a large thick rare cut of beef with a rich gravy, good roasties and huge Yorkshire pud. The pork was melt in the mouth. Definitely one of the better roasts we've had in ages. Service was top notch too.

Disappointing. Have eaten hear several times and at previous restaurant, Inside. Looked at menu on line and as change to pub food booked for downstairs but were seated upstairs in restaurant. For pub food we wanted a pub atmosphere not restaurant. Missed some of the previous little extras bread and oil or homemade butter. Food was good for pub food but not up to previous standard. Sadly not sure I will return unless restaurant menu is reinstated or we eat in bar area downstairs.

Lovely gastropub with excellent food and service in a relaxing setting - will definitely be visiting again, if only for another Rhubarb Bellini!

    Excellent, had a smashing evening.
Cod was superb, dessert too and I would return just for the Phipps stout!
Organic pino noir was also delicious.

Great meal! Good menu combining gastro-pub and higher-class dining in an informal pub setting. For starters we had perfectly cooked scallops with black pudding, smoked salmon with beetroots - both excellent. For mains, a baked cod and a grilled venison, both with tasty and well-matched vegetable sides. The downstairs room can get a bit noisy, but there's a quieter upstairs room too. It's tucked away in an unlikely place, this pub/restaurant, but well worth seeking out. The staff are always friendly, knowledgeable about the ingredients and efficient. For us it's a regular and we haven't been disappointed so far.
