In an enviable setting inside Spitalfields Market, The Grocer is a stylish yet comfortable gastropub that boasts a popular covered terrace and beer garden.
The Grocer menu covers everything from quick bites at the bar, to hearty main meals. Tempting bar snacks include cod fries with tartare sauce, and black pudding Scotch egg, while a selection of sandwiches are served for lunch. There are pub classics like the Angus cheeseburger, as well as sausages, mash and gravy. On Sundays, there are roasts with all the trimmings, served alongside a full wine list.
Desserts at The Grocer Spitalfields include chocolate fondant with ice cream, and lemon meringue sundae, with a great selection of cask ales being a popular draw.
A welcoming escape from the bustle of the market, The Grocer London is a 6-minute walk from Whitechapel Tube Station.

The food and drinks were great. However, it was not clear if we were having table service or not. The majority of our drinks had to be brought at the bar due to lack of service. Our main waitress was extremely rude and refused to serve us when someone was only ordering one drink.

Very nice cosy pub/bar although a bit rowdy when we went in (Thursday night). Vegetarian pie was a bit disappointing as there was no pastry on it and for me that is what a pie is all about! Previous visit had fantastic food so this was just a bad choice on this occasion. Will definitely go back. Service and surroundings excellent.

There was a problem with the online table booking system which meant they didn't have our booking for a table of six. Luckily they were able to move people and push two tables together, but it wasn't ideal as we were perched on high stools. The food was lovely and the service was friendly. It felt like they were understaffed but they were still professional.
