Great food and atmosphere. Friendly courteous staff but took over 20 minutes to take our order, though first course then arrived quickly. Noisy ambience making it less comfortable for anyone with hearing loss.

The Green Room in London serves ethically sourced British food in a contemporary and theatrical space. In collaboration with local social enterprise Coin Street Community Builders, the National Theatre presents an innovative restaurant, bar and garden, where all profits support the National Theatre and local communities.

Mixing American diner dishes with British classics, The Green Room menu is packed with mouth-watering meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Meat-lovers can try slow-roasted pork ribs marinated in barbecue sauce, or the signature burger made with prime beef, Monterey Jack cheese, and an onion marmalade. Equally enticing are the hearty grilled calamari with pesto and slow-cooked winter vegetables, and the spicy vegan sloppy Joe with black beans, jalapenos and chipotle.

Inside The Green Room from the National Theatre, props and scenery from the theatre’s shows create a unique dining space. Outside, a sustainable garden creates an urban oasis a stone’s throw from the Thames.

A short stroll from The London Eye, The Green Room South Bank is a 6-minute walk from Waterloo Train Station.

Amazing food!! Slightly awkward shaped tables though- you're always sat a bit too far from each other for my liking, you have to talk up quite a lot especially as it's rather loud. Not something to put you off though, the food is delicious and the desserts are sublime!

Good food - we had hake which was delicious despite having a bit too much salt. It's very handy for the BFI where we were going and for the rest of the South Bank. Only criticism is that it's a cafe with restaurant food and the acoustic is poor. It's therefore very noisy, and everyone ends up shouting at each other.

Convenient restaurant for the Southbank centre. First visit. Relaxed atmosphere, pleasant staff and nice food. Became noisy later. Would come back here in the future.

Food excellent and pleasant atmosphere. Big drawback was the noise, making it almost impossible to chat across a table. Constant music did not help.

    Not a good experience
    Burger undercooked
    One pudding forgotten
    Very noisy ambience

I have been there about six time during the past six months. It is always a pleasing experience. I have mobility problems, use a walking frame and take oxygen. I request a table out of the way at the side and always have the same table reserved for me and my party. I now call it MY TABLE.
