Love the trio of sausages but when I got there it wasn't on the menu but they made it up for me

An excellent menu to choose from, and most dishes ordered were top notch, however the fondue (I'm told) was a bit runny, and the crab linguine was a bit dry, but very tasty. The only downside to our visit was the wait...our reservation was for 7:30, we were seated about 7:45, and our starters came promptly, however the mains did not come until about 9:15. Granted they did come and tell us about 9:00 that our meals were next to plate up! It was a busy Saturday night, but watching other parties receive their mains, when they arrived after us took a bit of the shine off our visit. Would we go again, yes, but maybe not on a Saturday night.

We are regular visitors to the Goshawk. The value of the meal on a reduced cost deal was excellent and would have been OK on a full payment. Reception was prompt, we were seated on arrival and speedily attended to by our very pleasant waiter. Proximity to the fire was very welcome. Service was prompt and professional yet smilingly informal.
Our main error was to have ordered a skins and chive dip as starter only to find the identical chive mixture [and some similarity in the potato] included on our main dish. I expect we should have noted the chive from the menu description of the mains but it may have helped had the waiter pointed this out as I would have asked for it to be excluded. Food quality was good; the dip was tasty and about right for a shared appetiser. Main of trout was generally OK though not as memorable as previous fish dishes I have enjoyed with you [fish a little overcooked though nothing to complain about]. Use of beetroot was a pleasant surprise. The desserts were excellent and the coffee was good for a decaff. Wine by the glass is overpriced against the price of a bottle and does penalise drivers, but hey-ho that is industry standard. Bottle price is competitive however. Decent buttery Chardonnay but with several fish dishes on the menu possibly give some thought to including a Semillon?

The main courses were really good quality and value, particularly when we had a 1/3 off voucher

This was my first experience of the Goshawk, it was everything I had heard. The service and food were excellent.

Best Sunday Roast Ever! Great service by waitresses that engage with the customers. Top beers and wine

Sunday lunch - pleasant service, pleasant room but became rather noisy once a party of 10 were seated. Cheese soufflé - v. good, fish and chips v. good, one of our party found the roast lamb thickly cut, very chewy and thus inedible, while the carrots were mushy. We were very pleased to be able to order small portions. Rhubarb and Apple pudding delicious, but rather difficult to add custard to overfull dish ... we managed! Except for the roast lamb - a very positive experience. Thank you

A very.nice evening and the food was excellent and well-presented. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only downside for me, personally, as someone who is wheat intolerant, was that there were no specific options to cater for this. Some gluten-free choices would be good to see in the future.
We were given only 4 choices of lager beer which I think is a bit limited.

We have been many times & it can be hit or miss. My meal was nice but the rest of the party were disappointed in theirs. Also the room is too noisy .. you can hardly hear yourself speak.

Comfortable surroundings with open fires. Fondue starter very disappointing. soufflé starter excellent. Good sensible choices for children.
