Food was outstanding (and very good value for a Michelin star restaurant), wine was excellent, service was excellent, setting was very nice (semi-formal but felt relaxed and comfortable). Goring Hotel itself is a very nice, charming hotel.

When we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, we had coffee whilst we waited for our guests to arrive, then went into dining room which is very tasteful ambiance, I found the menu interesting, we decided to have the lamb from the trolley as our main course we were assured that we would be asked how we like it (rare medium) however mine was served very rare without asking what my request was, so when I said it was too rare, it took ages for the them to bring another plate clearly the carver was irritated then I had to wait another few minutes till the jus was brought in fact I had to ask the head waiter meanwhile all the other guests were waiting to start. Very disappointing.

Best meal ever! The room is very comfortable with a lovely ambience. We were warmly welcomed and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Service was appropriately paced. Food was superb - cooked to perfection and nice portion sizes. Can recommend Eggs Drumkilbo and smoked salmon starters then beef Wellington and Fallow deer mains then Black forest - all superb. Definitely recommend.

Service was excellent, one of the fish main dishes lacked flavour and the portion was very small - but they responded very well and offered free cheese board/drinks and desserts were very special.
Seemed to be many diners coming and going with numerous tables being reset around us during the evening. Seemed a very large room - would rather have had a more intimate experience.
Had to ask for the final bill 3 times.
Nice experience but probably won't go back again.
