We arrived for our booking to find the place empty at 8pm on a Saturday night. We waited by the entrance for several minutes. A chef or manager was sitting at a table doing paperwork but didn't even look up. We went through to the bar and had a drink. We then went back into the restaurant where the waiter, who was busy doing nothing, appeared oblivious to our presence, so we chose a table and sat down. After 5 more minutes of being invisible in an empty restaurant we gave up and walked out.

We dined here as we were staying in the hotel and it was convenient. The food we had was lovely, however we were dissappointed with the very limited menu and service was quite poor as staff were not very attentive. Luckily we didn't want a dessert as no one asked us! We also had to go and find someone to get a bill. We also had breakfast there in the morning and whilst staff were friendly once again they were not attentive. We were asked what toast we wanted but then no one bought us any. We asked for it again and it came but with no butter or knives. So we asked for these but again no one bought them. In the end we gave up and asked someone on another table if we could have their unused butter and a knife - not ideal! We all had the full English and enjoyed it very much though.

Chaos, went here for Breakfast , not a nice experience
Food not as described on menu , crushed avocado was guacamole...! not being fussy but my wife really wanted crushed avo
lots of staff but no one taking charge , cold plates - cold food
shame because goodwood is great setting , suggest management have got complacent

Uninspiring. This was our only night stay at the hotel, and this was the only restaurant we could be get into. It was very stark and univiting and we both commented that it was more like a leisure centre cafeteria. Cutlery was set out on the table but the menu for three courses but the menu didn't have any starter choices. In fact the menu was very poor for the calibration of hotel with only around 5 choices available. We ordered burgers which were OK, but not worth the £14 each we paid for them, especially with the miserly chip portions.

The restaurant was supposed to be a bar too and we would have liked to of had a few drinks after the meal but it was not an inviting space and so we left.

Overall, really disappointing, given the type of place Goodwood Hotel is.

Really lovely food, the burger was incredible! Our waiting staff were so lovely and friendly, really looked after us. The room is lovely but it was so quiet! I think everyone must have been at the other restaurant ?? My only criticism was the awful tables and chairs in there, felt like a school canteen! Our waitress told us that they are fewdirnishing soon so that's good news.

Friendly staff, however they could do with training! For example wine poured without being offered to taste, water dumped on the table and left.
Even worse the clattering noise of empty tables being prepared for breakfast - noise at at the circuit during the day most welcome, not at the dinner table.
    However the food was good.

We have lunched at the bar and grill several times but this is the first time we have been since the table and chairs have been replaced with the all white furniture. Not sure I like the look of it as it looks like a school canteen.
The food is very good but many of the dishes need some gravy or jus. Our party had crab pasta that was a little dry, I had the lamb that only had a tomatoe for moisture and the ale pie that does need some extra gravy. On a previous occasion with different guest they also had the pie and they did ask for some gravy but were told that they don't have gravy but could do a jus.
The men at this lunch all had the Spotted dick but they would have liked some custard with it and not just a swirl on the plate for presentation. I just think a small pot on the side of gravy, jus, or custard would give the diner a choice.
