Excellent as always. The new slate table mats and lemon napkins look very fresh as does the whole establishment. Some nice touches.

Average. I haven't dined here for a few months, and the service last night was poor, seemed a lot of staff not really knowing who was doing what and the restaurant was quiet. We asked for the desert menu twice and our daughter then went to find someone to get it for us. We were asked if we'd like more drinks and we requested just 2 glasses of water and only one turned up, couldn't be bothered asking again. Meal was average, chips too big and warm not hot, struggled to find something I really wanted on the menu, not as I remember the Golden lion. Won't be rushing back soon, what a shame.

The food was excellent and the service was superb - didn't have to wait long for the meals and the staff were really pleasant - cannot fault the restaurant at all

We chose a Sunday Roast (me) and Baked Salmon. Staff were happy to substitute the accompaniments with a panache of vegetables and Hollandaise Sauce as peppers and spicy food do not agree with my wife.

The steak for two people was beautiful, cooked to perfection.

Friendly efficient service. nice atmosphere, spacious. Had meatballs for main course was disappointed in both appearance and taste as they had clearly been reheated - at £13.50 this was not a good dish and should be much better at that price. Rest of the meal was good.

From the moment we stepped inside The Golden Lion we felt welcome. We arrived 20 minutes early but our table was ready and the staff took our drinks order straight away. The menu gave us all an excellent choice and the starter and main course went down very well. We could not eat a pudding as well. Thank you we had a lovey evening dinning with friends.
