Ever a rustic fixture in Newton St Loe, The Globe – Bath was established in the 17th century and continues to deliver traditional British pub cuisine in a beautiful setting. From the cosy hearth-fire and al fresco beer garden you can enjoy the appealing cobbled stone walls, the great country view and the seasonal food.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Globe menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Globe ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Globe in Newton St Loe is just 7 minutes’ drive from Oldfield Park Train Station, near Bath.

Incredibly friendly staff and very lovely food. I have a severe nut allergy and when the stuffing (with the roast dinner) arrived with nuts in it the staff were more than accommodating with bringing me a new plate of food and making sure that I was safe. The menu could do with having this written on it, as other dishes on the menu had 'nuts' specified as ingredients, just not the stuffing on the one I chose.

The restaurant was busy last night, being a Friday with a 25% off deal. I was greeted warmly and shown directly to my table. An attentive server brought me a drink promptly. When my friends arrived the friendly server took our orders efficiently. When a friend wanted some mustard that was not amongst the sauces offered, another server went out to the kitchen to find an alternative, which my friend really enjoyed. And the server, who was not actually looking after our table, returned later to ask how she'd liked it. Above and beyond the call of duty, both servers! Our meals were delicious and we had a great evening. Thank you so much, The Globe. I've visited you on many occasions and last night was the best!

We arrived just before our allocated time. The online booking had been successful and we were on their list. We were shown to our table. Two of the three were over 80 and both have mobility problems. The staff were considerate of their needs and happy to help! There was an excellent choice on the menu with lighter meals for those with smaller appetites. The order was taken and the food arrived quite quickly afterwards. We were offered pudding and given time to decide. We were not rushed and could sit and chat. Overall the food was good and well priced.

Very dissapointed with the Beef Merlot - the pastry top was good but the filling was a disaster - i calculated that 50% was strings of fat from the beef - really bad - we hav e been to the Globe often but this choice did not pass as any good wotsoever. And We always have cheese and biscuits but the biscuits served are not to everyones liking - some other cheese biscuits would be better
