Creative and contemporary, The Glasshouse Restaurant Lyndhurst is the proud holder of 2 AA Rosettes. Making the most of its location in the heart of the New Forest, fresh, local ingredients lead the artistically presented dishes.

The Glasshouse menu adds a modern flourish to the traditions of fine English dining. Start with quail served 3 ways with albufeira sauce, or the innovative pan-seared veal tongue with a spicy blackberry ketchup. Blending British favourites with Mediteranean flavours, mains include beer-battered fish and chips, mushroom, pine nut and tarragon risotto, and local sausage and wholegrain mustard mash, joined by pancetta and a shallot jus.

Housed in a Georgian hotel, The Glasshouse afternoon tea befits its classic surroundings. Savour traditional sandwiches and scones with a selection of teas, or a glass of Champagne for optimum luxury.

With black and gold décor, and striking artwork adorning the walls, The Glasshouse Restaurant in Hampshire is an elegant rural hideaway. Ashurst New Forest Train Station is just a 10-minute drive away.

There were a limited number of dishes on the specials and a la carte menus but our starters, mains and desserts were well prepared from fresh ingredients and tasty. The starter of smoked salmon and haddock fishcake was good; unfortunately the pork belly cut was mostly fat and not enough meat although the crackling was good; the pistachio sponge dessert was good. Table service by Jade and Ashley was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. We had a bottle of Chilean Malbec which was smooth but priced a little on the high side. Restaurant was fairly quiet with only three tables occupied.

Excellent , friendly service. Attentive but not over-bearing.
Good tasty though roast cauliflower dish some pieces of cauliflower were over-cooked and others undercooked.
Pan fried salmon had a vicious skin and beetroots were delicious. Desserts were v good.

It was a really special evening for us. We met at this particular hotel 24 yrs ago to the day and when I booked the table I mentioned it in the 'notes' section. We were greeted by a lovely friendly waitress and after we sat down and were handed menus she brought out two complimentary glasses of Prosecco for our celebration - really sweet! So the service was excellent, all the staff were friendly and welcoming, but the other star of the evening - was the hidden one - the chef! Because the food was sensational. I had a smoked duck starter and my wife tried a savoury truffle custard, described as a kind of savoury creme brûlée with peas, cucumber and croutons. It said on the menu, you should try this once in your life - and we agree because it was quite exquisite. Main course, my wife had a honey glazed succulent salmon fillet which, amongst other things, was accompanied with crisps drizzled in a beetroot puree - they were good (i pinched one); for my main course I had the cumin dusted rump of lamb, medium rare, flavour was oozing out, delicious, accompanied by garlic creamed potato. To summarise, the starters and mains were superbly presented, and had wonderful subtle flavours. For dessert my wife had the lovely Tiramisu and I had the Lemon Posset in a bowl - and this was high above my expectations. Most lemon flavoured desserts I find too tangy or zesty but this flavour was understated and creamy and was perfectly balanced with sweet fresh strawberries, crunchy shortbread chipping and meringue. It's probably one of the most elegant desserts I've had in a long time. Not only that but the chef sent out a complimentary plate of assorted mini-sweets and a 'happy anniversary' message - top guy and an awesome chef! Just a great night and want to say a Big Thank-you to all who helped make it special for us - especially the waitress who was so nice and looked after us so well. It was a truly elegant dining experience and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Visited while staying at a nearby hotel upon reading good reviews. Waitstaff were friendly and the food was pretty good, though nothing especially great or poor. Positive was an emphasis on locally-source ingredients.

Poor service; confusion over what was on menu and what was off; requests were forgotten; melted butter presented with bread; forgot corkscrew to remove cork from wine.

We booked online however the restaurant was not aware of our booking as there was a delay between booking and their being informed. As such our table was not ready when we arrived.
