Inspired by the coastal eateries of California, The Gallivant is perched right beside the Camber Sands dunes. This laid-back, relaxing setting has al fresco seating to enjoy the sea air look and out across the beach, and showcases a great variety of modern British dishes.

Set in an area rich in local produce, The Gallivant menu tries to source every ingredient from within a 10 mile radius. There are tastes of the seafront with dishes like smoked haddock with Rye bay cockles, spring onion and cured mayo, and classic favourites such as saddleback pork chop with creamed Morghew potato and smashed swede. On Sundays, there are generous roasts with fresh Bloody Marys.

Delectable desserts at The Gallivant in Rye come beautifully presented, with treats like buttermilk panna cotta with rhubarb sorbet and granola. The wine list features over 130 bottles, including carefully selected English vintages.

A beautiful coastal treat that holds a charming holiday feel, The Gallivant is just an 8-minute drive from Rye Rail Station.

Excellent place. Can park there all day and go for walk before or after meal, which makes life easy. They also accept dogs inside which again is great.
Love the seats that are covered in sheepskin, very comfy.
Also for those eating on the terrace they have blankets which is a nice touch.

    Really lovely casual lunch

Terrible. We were seated in a dingy, echoing corner next to a large party table whose noise and it's amplification due to enclosed space made our own conversation impossible as we couldn't hear each other. We left after the main course as we couldn't wait to get away from the racket.

An absolute gem in an area not noted for fine dining. Really nice location, food was interesting and beautifully prepared and cooked. I had the Romney Marsh lamb and my partner the catch of the day which was pan fried brill fillet. Our son had a half portion of sirloin steak. All were fresh as locally sourced. Nice atmosphere and waiting staff couldn't have been more friendlier or helpful.

The restaurant was beautiful, such a gem on the camber coast. I ate with my boyfriend and my dog in the bar area and your staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and efficient. Going some places with a dog isn't easy but we were made to feel relaxed and welcome. Thank you to our female waitress with glasses and dark hair and also a young brown haired waiter for that.
Also, the food was fantastic - we both had the cod and chips which was just brilliant and the homemade tatare sauce was delicious. Will definitely recommend to friends.
    Thanks!

Casual gourmet!!!! Had a long walk on Cambersands pre sunset dinner so we were certainly windswept and famished. Excellent attractive staff served us perfect dover sole and copious amouts of nice wine and got a cab back to our place in Rye. Great evening good buzz and definately this place is on trend for the summer ahead. Thanks

Wonderful restaurant, just off beach. Kids menu is brilliant - half portion of anything on the menu at half price. Fish of the day superb. A lovely place to go once getting off the beach.

Lovely atmosphere, great service and superb food. Very accommodating of children. The prawn cocktail was outstanding, fresh and zingy aauce. Catch of the day (sea bream) was beautifully cooked, and the classic cod and chips was delicious. Highly recomnended. We love this place.
