Described as Stourbridge's best kept secret and offering quality French food since 1986, The French Connection has been run by Christopher and Colette since 2000. Recreating an authentic taste of France, recipes lean towards South West France style, with its influences from the Pyrenees and the Atlantic.
Serving a wealth of flavoursome dishes, the French Connection menu prides itself on its signature starter of shellfish soup served with garlic rouille, croutons, cheese and fresh garlic cloves. It also showcases a classically French beef bourguignon, succulent beef braised with red wine gravy and served with smoked bacon. The popular Gascony dish of twice cooked duck leg and thigh served with a plum and Armagnac sauce is also available.
Complementing this rich menu is a vibrant cocktail list that includes magnificent margaritas and cosmopolitans. Keeping with its French heritage, French Connection in the West Midlands also serves a selection of champagnes, excellent wines and Armagnac. French Connection guests can call in for a glass of wine and a snack, or a sumptuous French breakfast.
The elegant French Connection in Stourbridge is found in the town centre. It is just a 6-minute walk from Stourbridge Town Train Station.

The beef bourgignon was delicious. Good food generally, nice atmosphere. The only thing was that there could have been cloth napkins instead of paper - it made it feel a bit cheap but the prices were not cheap!

A very enjoyable evening. The service was perfectly balanced between efficiency and over attentiveness, unobtrusive and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely - I would probably preferred slight dimmed lighting and more candles, but it didn't detract from the experience at all. Having said that the restaurant very much projects the image of a small, traditional French eating house, it doesn't pander to modern trends and fads.
The food was delicious, my partner had a rack of lamb followed by cheesecake and I had chicken followed by crime brûlée. Both were well flavoured and cooked very nicely. The menu was very clear which dishes were suitable for vegetarians or those with a gluten intolerance, and those which could be adapted if necessary.
I have also used the catering service which French Connection run on a couple of occasions, the food and service is, again, very good and I would recommend them with no hesitation.

Plenty of space between tables for privacy and the background music does not intrude. Great atmosphere and high quality food.

Excellent food and service in a charming, welcoming environment. Great choice of a la carte or a set menu on Friday, which is great value also.

It is always a pleasure to visit the French Connection. The staff are friendly, the food is always delicious and generously portioned. We had soup, sweet potato fries (the best anywhere) and a goat's cheese, spinach and garlic mushroom wrap (one gluten free). Excellent value at only £7.50 each, and we were stuffed by the end of the meal.
