Lovely meal I had pan fried lamb and my partner had a burger from the valentines day menu with a set price of £27.95 However we were offered additional toppings eg bacon at which point no additional cost was mentioned we were also asked if we wanted a glass of prosecco which was part of the menu anyway so why wouldn't we. finally when the bill came the total price was around £64 approx but we worked this out to be £9 more than it should have been However we did not challenge this charge on this occasion due to the fact that the service was excellent. and we did not to end this special night with a price dispute but overall a lovely night Tracey & Nick

Loved the 'real ale' excellent Timothy Taylors Landlord. Good ambience, wasn't over busy when we arrived (13.40) to eat for (14.00)
Disappointed with starters, 'home made soup' & 'Cray fish & crab pot' Not enough flavour for me with soup and too much crab very little cray fish( given price of dish.) Would give these dishes a 2 star
Had to wait over thirty five minutes for main, however staff recognised this and did apologise. Not sure what created the problem but we weren't in a rush, so all in all on the day not a problem
Main courses were very good, I had veg option, (nut roast) well cooked , veg done to perfection, tasty.(Love veg dishes now and again but only if they are cooked properly)
Other members of party had the 'pork(2) & chicken roast'' (Provided extra gravy upon request)
would give these dishes a 4 star
Staff were friendly , polite and helpful.
First visit in quite a while but will go again.

The service is very slow, however the staff are pleasant, and the food is good, need to sort out the service otherwise you will loose a good restaurant.

The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The food- I would love more pasta dishes.
As I have previously mentioned when washing hands in the washroom, by the time one has washed your hands
the water is still cold

Never had a bad meal here. Cosy restaraunt, lovely staff, relaxing evening out. The staff try to be very obliging if you ask for a specific table. It doesn't always work out but what the heck. A lovely place.

Booking service very straightforward.
Friendly welcome and good service.
Food excellent - good range and all the dishes we ordered lived up to or exceeded expectation.
Slight delay in service but the quality made it worth a wait.

Good food, shame no chicken but lamb was good. It's the general ambience though that shines through, great atmosphere

The serving staff were very pleasant but the service was extremely slow. I think they were very short staffed. Also we were placed near the service counter. So we constantly had a crowd of people around us, either waiting to pay or waiting to be seated. Not a very relaxing meal. Four of our main meals came at about the same time but we had to wait a few minutes longer for the side dishes. Three of the main dishes were excellent but the 4th one was below average. The chicken was too dry and the salad dressing was extremely fruity and sweet. We advised the waitress and she advised the kitchens and we were offered 1 free dessert. The desserts were excellent. Would definitely go back but not on a weekend and would request a better table. Also we were supposed to get a 25% discount as we went at 5pm but this did not happen. We did not realise this until we had left so it was our fault. But be careful as any discounts with Bookatable are not automatic, I think you have to advise the restaurant.

Well it didn't start well. Our table had been given to another guest so we were asked to wait. Then we were offered a table right by the entrance next to the display screen/order desk. We said it was not acceptable and then were given another table in a more pleasing position. The restaurant was very busy and everybody seemed to be ordering or awaiting food. The young lad who was rushing around gave us menus and said he would be back to take our order. After a while he returned and I ordered the scallops to be told they were off and whilst I was rechoosing the lad said the 2nd chef had not bothered to come in so service may be a bit slow. This was an understatement as time passed and we were quite hungry. Eventually the starters arrived with profuse apologies for the delay and they were both tasty the crayfish and crab and the lamb Koftas. The wait for the mains was much longer and again profuse apologies. The lad was doing his best but things were still delayed.
Finally the fillet steak(medium) arrived well done and I hadn't the heart to send it back as further delay was out of the question. My wife's salmon was good and went down well. We decided puddings were out and settled for 2 espressos which we were given on the house. The whole evening was stressful and I was glad that we had the 25% discount from you but felt that even this was not sufficient recompense for a very unrelaxing meal. The food was Ok but the delay was not.
We have been to the Fox before and had very good meals but never have had such a tense time as this. We arrived at 7.15 and left at 20 to 10.00.
Not the experience we were expecting.
