Built in the 18th century, The Fox House shows the best of this period, with the cobbled stone design and rustic charm. Nestled in the beautiful Peak District with great views, it boasts traditional British pub cuisine and an Innkeeper’s Lodge, and has seating by the cosy log fire and in the al fresco beer garden.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fox House menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fox House ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Fox House Longshaw is only a 6-minute drive from Dore and Totley Train Station, or 13 minutes from the Sheffield city centre.

Despite booking with yourself the table wasn't ready for us. I had to remind the waitress that we were still waiting for our table when the previous diners had left. Ordered a gin and tonic to be served to the table and the tonic had all been poured in - in an establishment like this you would expect them to know that you let the customer pour their own tonic in to taste. The food came quite promptly but even though the chicken pie and the steak and mushroom looked impressive with their puff pastry tops there wasn't much filling underneath. The table we were seated at had a radiator next to it which was luke warm and not pumping nearly enough heat out for a cold January day. We had been for a brisk walk before hand and were all quite cold - we would have stayed longer and ordered more drinks but were so cold at the end of our meal we didn't linger. Plus had to ask for the table to be cleared at the end of the meal as table service seemed to have stopped due to a member of staffs child taking their full attention.
Best thing was the free pudding I was entitled to via an emailfrom the pub. Shame as it is in a good location for our families to meet.

The meal was great and my parents loved the food. The service was exceptional. I would certainly come again.

Only downside was that the booking provided a 20% discount on the overall bill however the discount was not applied to the bill. As the bill was £150 this meant that I overpaid by £30.

Very cosy pub. Very quiet. Very peaceful. The type of pub where you can walk in, sit down on some Chesterfields and crack open your newspaper/ipad etc and read in front of the log fire. There are a lot of dining tables dotted around and very well hidden and thus is feels like private dining! Great food. Bit more expensive than your average pub grub.

The food was lovely and waitress nice but we waited for over an hour for the main meals to be served, which with a 12 month old isn't easy. Next time it would help if somebody informed us of average wait for food as the waiting and not being sure when we eat spoiled our stay at the pub.
