Listed in the 2014 Good Beer Guide & set in a Grade II listed 18th-century building, The Fox & Hounds is a family-run gastro pub nestled in the south Staffordshire countryside. With a welcoming, village-pub ambience and an al fresco terrace, it serves a modern British menu and a wide choice of drinks.

As well as traditional Sunday roast, The Fox & Hounds menu includes a variety of wholesome dishes, such as Italian gnocchi tossed in a spinach & blue cheese sauce with a parmesan crumb, sirloin steak with grilled tomato, roasted red onion, field mushrooms & chips, and pan-roasted chicken supreme with masala sauce, minted new potatoes & caramelised shallots.

Filled with cosy snugs, rich tartan fabrics & weathered wood, The Fox & Hounds pub enjoys a cosy ambience. Take a seat by the crackling fireplace and sip a pint of lager or tuck into a sweet treat, like blackberry & pear strudel with spiced blueberry coulis & homemade vanilla ice cream, or white chocolate & blueberry crème brulee with homemade vanilla shortbread biscuit.

The Fox & Hounds in Lichfield is a 5-minute walk from Shenstone Rail Station.

My husband and myself booked for lunch on Sunday 22 May 2016 as we were looking for a nice restaurant to take our family out. We were not disappointed. The meal was very good and the service excellent. The ambience of the place was nice. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and I shall have no hesitation in booking a table for eight for next Saturday.

The booking was simple, the meal was excellent, the service exceptional, but what we loved about the whole experience was all the above was at a price that made the fox & hound a place we will definitely be retuning to but next time we will take the family

The pub inside is lovely and charming, and had a nice atmosphere. The dinning experience was not the best I've have to say. The table staff desperately need more training, attention to detail is everything. The water carafe was bought to the table with no drinking glasses, this had gone unnoticed until we had to ask for them, we were not asked during the meal if we wanted more drinks. The service was exceptional slow, the chef had called our meal to be served four times but was ignored by the table staff. The food when it finally arrived was cold and my meal was still 5 minutes after everyone else's. The roast potatoes were boiled potatoes with a burnt skin on one side. The food was piles high on the plate with no real thought to presentation. One member of staff repeatedly banged the coffee machine, extremely loud to get the coffee out, it was quiet embarrassing for us at the table, the member of staff was oblivious to her actions. The tables were never wiped down, the staff looked scruffy , no proper uniforms, no enthusiasm no real customer care.
Such a shame as the experience could have been so much better with the correct staff.

Very Narrow selection but I feel this was due to being Mother's Day

Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and delicious home-cooked meals.
Go hungry- decent portions and very tasty.

I would not rush back to dine in this establishment. Firstly we had to wait 40 minutes for the starters (soup and pâté) and when they did arrive the soup was cold, as for the main course I had the rib of beef which for £19 was very fatty. My wife ordered a burger with bacon and cheese,
it came with neither so that went back as well. We left desserts.
Overall a very disappointing experience where the prices
Of the food no where near matched the quality.
