Dating back to the early 18th century, The Fox – Caterham enjoys a uniquely beautiful location in Coulsdon Common, on the spectacular North Downs. It welcomes with classic oak and brick furnishings, and the cosy hearth-fire and al fresco beer garden can be enjoyed with seasonally-prepared British pub cuisine.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fox menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fox ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

In Surrey, The Fox is only 6 minutes’ drive from Caterham Train Station.

This was our 2nd visit this week. 1st was last sat. Brilliant meal, my
Fillet steak was just as I asked, blue, it melted in my mouth. Only downside was the amount of food on the floor, a hoover was needed. Last night, different friends, my meal was lovely but they had steak that was not cooked well. I have to say the staff were lovely and one of the meals was taken of the bill. Would we go back, YES. The chef is very good, but it was unfortunate that both steaks were over cooked for how they asked but everything else was really good.

Food was good service was virtually non-existent. Closest you'll find to a self service restaurant. Although there was a waitress, she disappeared most of the time and I had to place my order at the bar. Place seemed somewhat disorganised!

It was a very pleasant location and the fires were very welcome as it was a damp evening. The décor is good and the service was quick . The menu had a good variety ( the dish two of us chose was not fully available) but the alternative was nice. It was easy to book on line. Only one comment - the flagstone floo looked as if it was in need of a proper clean.

We were very well looked after. and spent the whole afternoon in the place relaxing for a reunion. Good food, and a great setting. Thanks!

Sadly the food was not brilliant. We have eaten here before and food was lovely but last night it took ages to come and then wasn't great food. Bit disappointed.

Nice atmosphere. Pub looks in need of a facelift outside. Inside is cosy but dated.
Sunday roast was fine and quite good value. Lamb roast was already covered in gravy when it arrived; not to everyone's taste. Service was slow - staff apologised for slow service of meal.

Poor service. Worst time of pub food. Overcooked and of poor quality I sent my main course back as did the couple next to us A Vintage Inn so I will make sure I do not visit this chain again..
