Overlooking the pretty Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, The Fox & Anchor – Wolverhampton dates back to the 18th century, and serves vintage British pub cuisine in a beautiful countryside location. The seasonally-prepared food can be savoured from the warm hearth-fire in winter or the al fresco beer garden in summer.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fox & Anchor menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fox & Anchor ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Fox & Anchor is merely 13 minutes’ drive from central Wolverhampton.

Excellent meal with friends ,nice wine staff very professional and friendly, puddings are fabulous. Our friends from Leicester were very impressed and it will become a regular meet u for lunch in the near future.
The venue is unique but would benefit with a make over i.e. Fresher up inside and out.so much potential could be a fabulous venue. We live just up the road and would visit more often. James and Virinita Newell

Lovely pub but the portion sizes are small for the price. I had beef and it was so tough I couldn't cut through it and my dessert had obviously been sat on a hot plate as there was a very thick skin on the custard when it came. I wouldn't have minded if the food was cheaper. The bar staff were too busy talking amongst themselves, well all except one man who was lovely and the young girl who served at the table was also fab, very pleasant and helpful.

Booked a table for 4 o'clock got their about 15 minutes before was shown pretty straight away . Waitress girl named April was brilliant very friendly, talkative, and very pleasant. The only downside was the one starter of mushrooms in sauce was cold but was bought a fresh dish straight away . Mains we're delicious and deserts we're fine apart from crumble seem to taste a bit burnt on top . Other all was pleased and taking how busy because of Mother's Day you were I would go back again . Also would like to say my mother is 84 and when taking for meals can be hard to please but got to say she enjoyed everything from starter to desert

Lunch with an 84 year old friend. Very choosy about her food but was happy with the selection.

We have used this restaurant several times in the past and the food and service has been good. Unfortunately this time was not so.
The portions appear to have got smaller and the prices higher. A 10oz rib eye steak a few chips and 6 cherry tomatoes 18.95. A steak and mushroom pie with 4 chunks of steak in it a tiny amount of mash and vegetables to go with it. Not very filling and not now good value for money. Staff did not inform us until we were about to order that items were not available on the menu. Our waiter reeled off choices as if he was in some sort of race to be somewhere else.We will leave this restaurant now for several months to see if it improves!!

Staff Very friendly and helpful. The dish I chose I asked if an item could be omitted, this was not a problem and I was offered another item (salad) as a replacement. Food was very good,

The food was a very good quality and very enjoyable. However on the day we visited the service was very slow and had to wait an hour for our mains to come and they were just barely warm enough to eat. The service staff weren't very friendly and seemed a little dispirited, I felt sorry for them, they had clearly had a rush on and couldn't keep up with the orders. It is a shame as the food was good quality.

Arrived at the pub and was very pleased with its quaint atmosphere - log fire, arm chairs, very rustic. Was very busy, approached bar, told them of our reservation, seemed a little confused, as though they hadn't been expecting us. Though we attributed this to them being very busy. Awkwardly followed them through to main dining room where we were eventually seated. No reservation sign and in corner so believed we had indeed been forgotten about. A shame as it was a birthday meal. Nonetheless we were handed a menu and asked if we wanted drinks. Drinks arrived promptly but it took 35 minutes before our food order was taken - despite us looking round/trying to make eye contact/get their attention. Starters arrived, were pleasant. Main course then arrived promptly. Two of us ordered the steak and eggs as my daughter and her partner had had this dish before and had recommended the pub. Came with chips and a frittata. Unfortunately steak was grisly and frittata raw in centre. Other meals were okay, but after such a long wait we were a little disappointed. Had a 20% off offer attached to the reservation but they hadn't remembered this/it wasn't written down and, feeling sorry for the waitress who was already busy and rushed off her further, didn't want to inconvenience her so paid full amount and left. A real shame as my daughter has had positive experiences before. Also it is gorgeous inside and the staff are friendly, especially the waitress who served us. But service was very slow, not enough waiters/waitresses and we were disappointed by the overall quality of the food. We would recommend this pub, but think it is probably at its best when less busy, as it is not currently equipped to cope with demand. Overall our experience was average. Again, a shame as the pub really is so pretty, the menu so enticing, and the staff friendly. But, unfortunately, on this occasion it just didn't live up to expectation.
