Originally a quaint farmhouse, the The Fowlers Farm still values its pastoral heritage and delivers traditional British food, with oaken beams and a countryside situation. The 500-year-old building boasts a cosy hearth and an al fresco beer garden with eye-catching views of the surrounding country.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fowlers Farm menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fowlers Farm ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Fowlers Farm is only a 15-minute walk from Braintree Freeport Train Station, or a 5-minute drive into the town centre.

Food was brilliant will definitely be visiting again! Although, our waitress didn't seem to be at all enthusiastic about her job at all, and everything seemed like to much of a big ask, but that won't put us off.

We had a table booked for 2pm, was very disappointed that many of the dishes were unavailable, we were told on sitting down, no lamb, no platters and a few others. Waitress stated they had been very busy and had run out.

Although my family, friends and I have been to this restaurant on several occasions for an evening meal, have been really pleased with the food, on this occasion it was below standard. My wife and I ordered the steak and mushroom pies and when they came looked very filling. This was deceiving because they were mainly filled with air (puff pastry) and the couple of pieces of what was meant to be beef were gristle which was really horrible. Although my wife did eat a little piece of the pie, I had mine replaced with the chicken pie.

Food was average, but the service was poor, forgot the first drinks order. Not sure I would eat there again. DISAPPOINTED

This is a lovely restaurant in an old farmhouse with a great atmosphere and good food. The only slight hiccup is that the server who brought us our drinks seemed to be a hurry all the time and got an Irish coffee mixed up with a latte even though they are in completely different vessels. One was a glass and one was a cup, being intolerant to alcohol it was an unpleasant surprise!
