Originally a quaint farmhouse, the The Fowlers Farm still values its pastoral heritage and delivers traditional British food, with oaken beams and a countryside situation. The 500-year-old building boasts a cosy hearth and an al fresco beer garden with eye-catching views of the surrounding country.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fowlers Farm menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fowlers Farm ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Fowlers Farm is only a 15-minute walk from Braintree Freeport Train Station, or a 5-minute drive into the town centre.

Have visited Fowlers Farm several times and always had good service. Friendly staff and above all excellent food.

I have dined at Fowlers Farm Braintree on three previous occasions which were OK.
We decided to try Sunday lunch there for a change and I really wish we hadn't.
When we went to order our drinks the wine we chose was not available, only more expensive wines were available but I was assured I would be charged the same price as the unavailable wine. ( difference was £2).
We then asked to order our food, our table was pre-booked for 14:30, we ordered at approximately 14:45 when we were told there was no roast beef and it would take at least half an hour for more beef to be ready. We decided to have a starter to fill the time as we were hungry at this point.
The pate did not come with the correct bread, it was two small pieces of sliced baguette and not what was specified on the menu, it was not good at all, I didn't eat any and was surprised I wasn't asked if anything was wrong, I didn't want to make a fuss.
When the roast dinner eventually did come at about 15:30 it was not good at all.
The vegetables were very watery as they were obviously frozen and the roast potatoes were also frozen. The roast beef was inedible, I tried cutting it, it was very thinly sliced but was mostly fat and sinue, I asked for it to be taken away and I didn't want anything else as we had waited long enough. We were in fact charged the correct price for the wine and not as the waitress had said previously.
It was not a pleasant experience at all.

This restaurant has a rustic, warm, and cosy feel, the Sunday (Christmas) roasts are lovely and very good value for the money.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.

I use Fowlers Farm to meet up with friends and family as this is like a half-way house for us. The staff are always friendly and the food is good. I am especially pleased with the 'Gluten Free' menu and the knowledge of staff / chief as my sister is Coeliac and we know Fowlers Farm is safe for her.

Wouldn't come for a Sunday roast at that time again ie 4pm!! Had run out of roast potatos and my daughter and I had the last few, not the standard they should have been! The cauliflower cheese also not cooked to high standard, however the manager did subtract the cost of it off the bill when I commented on it!
