I visit the Isle of Wight a couple of times with my family each year to visit a relative and this is our favourite place to eat. Food is good and reasonably priced, the staff are always helpful, and the location is superb.

With an outdoor terrace offering stunning views out over the marina, Folly East Cowes is an inviting riverside pub belonging to the acclaimed Old English Inns fleet. Gourmet pub grub and cask ales are served, with log fires creating a snug ambience.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, the Folly menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at the Folly pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

Popular with local sailors, and welcoming to diners with dogs, Folly on the Isle of Wight is just a short drive to the north coast of the island.

Great location by rive Medina. Good service, didn't wait too long to be served. Enjoyed the Sweet Chilli Salmon which was as described on menu. The deli sharing platter was a bit short on content for £8, we all thought.

Pre-booked for a 6pm table (Cowes week) but there was plenty of room. We sat outside on the terrace overlooking the river. Steak and chips great as was the sea-bass and scallop risotto. Food was delicious and a good price. Staff were attentive and friendly. We met a friend from the Island and she had never visited the Folly, but she's planning to come back very soon!

Excellent service especially in respect of the request for easy access for a disabled person in my party. Best of feature, the location! Favorite dish, crab salad. Manager and staff all Top Notch.

Called in for Sunday lunch, although busy and had run out beef, had rib of beef which was excellent, staff very friendly and welcomed dogs.

Great evening and food service much quicker than advised despite being very busy. A little disappointed with some of the menu choices which were clearly not home cooked, namely Seafood pastry, and the garlic breaded mushrooms obviously out of a packet. But overall a lovely atmosphere with live band and people really did dance on the tables.
