We all had a variety of different things from the menu and enjoyed our choices. The prawn and lobster starter was a good choice

In the tranquil Weston Turville, The Five Bells in the picturesque Chilterns has a rustic atmosphere due to the pretty surrounding countryside and the vintage British food it serves. With a welcoming hearth, an al fresco beer garden and an Innkeeper’s Lodge, The Five Bells is the quintessential British pub.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Five Bells menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Five Bells ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Five Bells is just a 5-minute drive from Stoke Mandeville Train Station, or a 10-minute drive from Aylesbury.

Great food in a relaxed, unhurried setting. Friendly staff and welcoming open fire. What more could you wish for?

Enjoyed roast turkey with stuffing. Very tasty, veg cool, but edible. Delicious gravy.

The starters were pleasant and we enjoyed. However, the seafood risotto was far from what was expected. Overflowing in parmesan to the extent the oil was swimming round the plate and drowned any flavour of the seafood. The steak had very little flavour, possibly because it hadn't been sealed correctly on cooking and the chips were undercooked. We did mention it and an offer was made to cook another but we didn't want to have to wait again for it to be cooked but no offer was then made to reduce the price of the meal which I would have expected. My son's remark was 'you don't come here if you have a good appetite'. Very disappointing given it was a birthday meal and we won't return. We didn't bother to stay for dessert for fear of wasting an more money. Service was great and the pub itself really nice.

We both ordered roast beef as a main course. It was fine, & the beef was rather tough despite being cooked well (nice & rare). Unfortunately the whole dish was ruined by being served swimming in gravy on only barely warm plates. Hence roast potatoes/Yorkshire puds were soggy, & all began to congeal somewhat before we finished eating. Service was very pleasant if slow - waiting staff seemed thin on the ground on a busy Sunday lunchtime. We would come again, but would specifically request hot plates and for gravy to be served in a separate jug.

We went on Sunday so we all had a typical Sunday roast. The food was great, we had to wait a little while because it was so busy. Loved dessert choices. I had sherry trifle which was delicious.

Very good lunches although the sirloin steak was not particularly tender. Good service and food well presented.
