We had a wonderful time at Browns for afternoon tea. We were very well looked after and the food was delicious. The booking for 2 hours but we didn't feel rushed in any way.

If you are looking for a classic afternoon tea experience, look no further. Very good service and the food was also very good, although some of the finger sandwiches can be improved.

Afternoon tea here is an experience not to be missed. Fantastic choice of teas, sandwiches & cakes, replenished to your hearts desire with impeccable service.

Browns hotel is what you imagine a 5 star hotel in Mayfair to be, from the top-hatted doormen, dark woods, chandeliers etc.

The English Tea Room continues that theme, but with high, decorated ceilings, Paul smith light fittings & the sound of a baby grand enhancing your enjoyment.

Donovan's bar, just off the tea room, named in honour of photographer Terence Donovan with a collection of his prints adorning the walls & the stained glass of St. George behind the bar is also worth checking out.

The only downside from my own personal point of view was the fact that I had purchased a special offer of 25% off a champagne tea which when I came to settle my bill wasn't honoured due to the fact that we had rose champagne instead of the brut. (This is only £2 more when paying full price.)

Although it may not be the case, I feel that we were conned/duped somewhat as we shouldn't have been offered a choice of champagne if all were not included in the offer.

I was disappointed. We dressed nicely -
No sneakers or jeans but collared dress shirts, nice slacks in accordance with the hotel and restaurant policy. Unfortunately, others did not and wore jeans and sneakers. Moreover, the service was slow. We got 2 pots of tea for a party of 3 and assorted tea sandwiches, pastries, scones for 2. Eventually, the server asked if we'd like more sandwiches, pastries, etc,. Followed by "which ones? Our tea was never refreshed and we didn't know which tea was in each of the 2 pots. The server did have several tables and seemed a tad put upon when we tried to get his attentio. I guess, at the price we paid, I expected more from Brown's. Perhaps had we been hotel guests, the service might have been better
Overall, the afternoon was a disappointment

It was a great experience. We loved the hotel en the members of the staff were very friendly. Also the dishes were lovely. Our favourite dishes were the sweet ones. Scones with clotted cream and de ones with choclat.

This was for a birthday celebration. I had been here before and had a lovely time. This time was good but we had quite a sulky waiter. When I asked if I could have some fresh tea he gave a great sigh! Quite Fawlty Towers. The service from everyone else was very good, but the waiter who served us was not good. It can really ruin an experience if you have to ask fro empty plates to be removed etc and have to keep catching the waiters eye for something that should be a matter of course. If service is bad you always notice it.
