disappointing, great place ,but food not so ,we declined coronation chicken bagel which was taken away and not replaced with alternatives, cakes were sticky and sickly after asking for alternative was told there was not any so was given blood orange jelly which was super but an oatmeal slice with a little dried apricot I felt the tea needed more tea leaves as we had chosen a relatively strong choice but it was still lacking in flavour, the staff were fine but not exceptional as I had expected .If I had not had afternoon tea in other London establishments I suppose I would not have known any difference but it was my birthday and my family had recommended it so I was really looking forward to it ,I was very disappointed and will not recommend .

The setting and service was very good. My only disappointment was the lack of any alternative for those with nut allergies. Other venues offer different cakes but I was given the same as my partner and simply had to leave the cakes with nuts. A minor point given everything else was so good but in this day and age more and more people have allergies and the ability to cater for everyone is always appreciated. Especially given the premium cost.

Delightfully relaxing in sumptuous surroundings. Tea and sandwiches were delicious. Home made strawberry jam was top notch! The piano was perfect accompaniment. Would have liked a higher sandwich to bun ratio.

Nice find. Not as pretentious as you might think. Good service with a smile

Arriving early we waited in the Donovon Bar where the cocktails were made to the highest standard - the Bloody Mary is a MUST!
When our table was available we were seated at a perfectly set table. Brown's offers a wonderfully intimate and friendly atmosphere. The staff take extra care to make the experience unique. The pianist playing a mixture of contemporary and show tunes provided a gentle background to the ambience whilst not being too loud to interrupt conversation.
There was a wide selection of teas and the waiting staff were able to provide suggestions with their in depth knowledge.
The food was varied and endless. Initially there is a selection of finger sandwiches - egg mayonnaise, cucumber cream cheese & ham and piccalilli, and open sandwiches - coronation chicken & smoked salmon. We had vegetarians in our party and some additional sandwiches were provided - roasted pepper finger sandwich & chickpea in coronation dressing open sandwich. The only criticism was that the cucumber sandwiches were a bit of a non-event, but the attentive staff made sure the sandwiches were replenished until we were ready for the second service - sweets. This comprised of fresh scones with jam and clotted cream, and an assiette of desserts including cakes and tarts.
There was no rush by the staff, even when we passed our scheduled leave time.
I cannot recommend afternoon tea at Brown's enough and will be revisiting again without doubt.....and the Donovon Bar too!

I was very disappointed. I have been there many times but this time the food was not good, which is a shame for such a beautiful restaurant and hotel. We had the traditional afternoon tea and the Tea-tox afternoon tea and both were very disappointing: the food was tasteless, did not seem fresh and the pastries were too sweet/of poor quality. I will not come back.

    For Afternoon Tea:
The staff recommended Earl Gray tea was very tasty. The "Traditional" menu was just excellent! Very cozy and relaxing, served by very attentive knowledgeable staff. We spent an amazing time in this room where time stops. I wish to come back again very soon. Thank you!
