Part of The Good Pub Guide's Pub Group of the Year 2016, The Dundas Arms in Kintbury serves gastropub-style British food, and boasts a beautiful pub garden beside the river Kennet. Perfect for al fresco dining, there is even an outdoor bar, while the rustic pub itself has a log fire and an originally decorated private dining room with garden views.

Making use of Berkshire’s best produce, the seasonal Dundas Arms menu features classic pub fare alongside more intricate dishes. Aged steaks, beer-battered fish and chips and sausage and mash stand alongside Thai monkfish tails, confit barbary duck leg, and rump of lamb.

Big sandwiches come stuffed with free-range chicken and homemade fish fingers, with hot scotch eggs and duck and foie gras pate also on the lunchtime menu. Desserts at the Dundas Arms restaurant include summer berry fool and sticky toffee pudding. There’s also an elegant private dining room looking out onto the vast garden, which makes a great space for special occasions and get-togethers.

Hearty Sunday roasts can be accompanied by an impressive range of vintage wines. The Dundas Arms in Kintbury is just a 1-minute walk from Kintbury Train Station.

Food poor, uninteresting. Chose pork belly from the menu as a safe option. No crackling, meat not flavoursome. For pudding it sad aplle and black currant crumble, no black currant. Waitress failed to,say service charge was included when we were just about to add a £20 tip.

Very welcoming dog friendly pub. Good food. Good beer. Great service. Lovely location right on the canal. Rooms overlooking the river. Ideal place for a short break walking or cycling along the canal. We'll definately remember this one for the future. Happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break. Only 1 negative - no Guinness.

    Pastry was not edible
Heard other diners complaining that their food was inedible
Had to chase our drinks order of one glass of wine and champagne 3 times!
They arrived half way through our dinner
Could not get a knife through the duck breast
    Champagne was corked
Staff attitude was appalling verging on aggressive
Restaurant was not busy but would only allow booking times of 6 and 7 pm

Food very nice. Very British menu. We had soup and pate. Both lovely. Next was duck and their special of the day, steak and ale pie. Both nice although pie a bit over seasoned. Staff attentive. Dining room a bit quiet so on reflection wished we are outside (wedding also on hence our c choice) would go back. Garden makes it older child friendly. -deep water. I would prob not recommend if you were veggie.

Overall, it was a very pleasant lunch: a friendly greeting, excellent service, top quality food and drink.

Food was excellent and in very generous portions - particularly the whitebait. The fish pie contained a lovely mixture of seafood and the beef was tender and perfectly cooked
