Offering outdoor dining and a spacious bar & restaurant, The Dukes Head Billericay is a refurbished country-style pub serving modern English dishes with Mediterranean influence. With roaring fireplaces, fur-lined chairs, rustic teak furniture, cosy banquettes and plenty of deep leather armchairs to sink into, this gastro pub is an idyllic retreat in the picturesque town of Billericay.

With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Dukes Head menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest available ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.

The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Dukes Head bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

The Dukes Head Billericay in Essex is just a 7-minute drive from Billericay Rail Station.

Second time at this Restuarant plea to of parking on site. Dining with another couple to catch up and chat. When we fist arrived we received a pleasant welcome and were shown to our table. We did not like the location of the table given us and ask if we could move and very promptly without any fuss we were given a more acceptable location. We were asked if we would like drinks and service was with a smile and prompt. The meal was ok. No problem with the food it was well presented and okay, nothing special but perfectly acceptable. Plenty of beers available and good variety of drinks. The music was too loud at the beginning of our visit and found it difficult to speak to each other, but later in the evening it was turned down which was fine. Towards the end of the evening it was turn back up, we think maybe to encourage us to leave, but we were not pressured to leave at all by the staff. Overall very pleasant evening nice ambience. Would dine again there. One small niggle. Charging £1 extra for pepper sauce is very mean and really sets a poor example.

The food was delicious but unfortunately service was very slow. This was our third visit in 6 months and we have had the same issue each time. For example we were left with the dessert menu for 20 minutes and eventually had to call someone over to take our order which took a further 20 minutes to reach the table. We requested the bill and after waiting 20 minutes had to ask again. Much improvement is needed in the area of service

Very good food. Service a little slow as was very busy. Drinks a little expensive.
The wall where we sat, could do with wiping down as had gravy stains on it, which did not look good.

Food quality and quantity was very good and the staff polite and helpful. However, our party was very disappointed with the Real Ale selection as all three Ales were off.
The 2 pints pulled prior to the barrel going were also too cold.
As no ale was available I ordered a Guinness which tasted stale and a little vinegary. I drank half and left the rest...! I found this really poor as I've used the pub and restaurant on several occasions (partly because real Ale is available) without any problems.
So whilst normally I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, I feel after yesterdays visit unable to do so.

Before arrival we were made aware that the restaurant had run out of roast dinners. This was not a problem for us however when our group were seated they told us there were several other items across the menu also unavailable. They were also out of a lot of drinks in the bar.
The service was good however there was an order mix up and they cooked several steaks incorrectly.
Overall I would not be rushing back anytime soon
