Offering outdoor dining and a spacious bar & restaurant, The Dukes Head Billericay is a refurbished country-style pub serving modern English dishes with Mediterranean influence. With roaring fireplaces, fur-lined chairs, rustic teak furniture, cosy banquettes and plenty of deep leather armchairs to sink into, this gastro pub is an idyllic retreat in the picturesque town of Billericay.

With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Dukes Head menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest available ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.

The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Dukes Head bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

The Dukes Head Billericay in Essex is just a 7-minute drive from Billericay Rail Station.

Very good food. Service a little slow as was very busy. Drinks a little expensive.
The wall where we sat, could do with wiping down as had gravy stains on it, which did not look good.

Food quality and quantity was very good and the staff polite and helpful. However, our party was very disappointed with the Real Ale selection as all three Ales were off.
The 2 pints pulled prior to the barrel going were also too cold.
As no ale was available I ordered a Guinness which tasted stale and a little vinegary. I drank half and left the rest...! I found this really poor as I've used the pub and restaurant on several occasions (partly because real Ale is available) without any problems.
So whilst normally I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, I feel after yesterdays visit unable to do so.

It was the first time we have been here the food was excellent cooked to perfection. the waitress was also excellent attentive to your needs but not in your face a perfect balance we felt very welcome and relaxed we will certainly be going again. It was a perfect place to ceilibrate my birthday. The restrant was clean and very plesant.

Before arrival we were made aware that the restaurant had run out of roast dinners. This was not a problem for us however when our group were seated they told us there were several other items across the menu also unavailable. They were also out of a lot of drinks in the bar.
The service was good however there was an order mix up and they cooked several steaks incorrectly.
Overall I would not be rushing back anytime soon

We had poor service. They had run out of the sharing fishamans starter, it was 6.00pm on a Saturday night and the place was empty. No new potatoes, the glasses were dirty and they didn't even bother to change the wine glasses for flutes when our preseco arrived, we ended up having to ask someone to change them. We we're promised an ice bucket that never arrived, again had to ask for it ( we had drunk most of it by the time it arrived) Both the gin and tonics were wrong! So no not a very good evening.

Well what can I say after seeing your Fish Friday menu, getting excited about the mahi mahi, booking a table for four who also love the same, as well as red mullet and grey mullet, and arriving to find that you had none of the above available, because the chef " hadnt been fishing" basically, we shan't be rushing back!

Prompt and friendly service by pleasant staff, starter course was expensive for what it was but it came to the table almost as soon as we ordered. Main course again expensive for what we got, Nearly £25 for rib eye with very little vegetables which left me wondering whether I missed the side order section of the menu. I don't mind paying top money for what amounts to pub food but this was not top food, nice surroundings, nice staff let down by expensive sub standard end of day food.

Lovely country pub, restaurant. Booked for lunch with 2 friends. Food was lovely. Bar was closed due to a private function (wedding) and looked lovely. Loved the coffee and mini dessert, great idea, can have dessert without the guilt. Staff seemed a bit busy and had to ask for drinks. Also a minor problem with paying the bill, 2 people paying cash and myself paying by card, did explain that I would be paying the remainder after taking the cash off the bill. All good as was about to leave was told there was a problem and still owed £6! But overall a good experience and will be back
